Vintage Travel Theme!

Some of you might remember from my bio...but, Im working on a vintage travel theme for the wedding. I made the train ticket punch card - style save the dates and I have some sweet invitations in the works and I was wondering if anyone has any ideas for decor to throw out there for consideration!

I don't want to totally overdo the theme, but I want it to be fun and memorable. I'm thinking of railway lanterns in the centerpieces with candles in them and stuff like that. Someone on the "Reception Ideas" board suggested adding a few globes into the mix, does anyone know where to find cheap ones? I can only find ones that are like, $50 and up and that is a no go for me.

I love the theme! You could use a train case as your gift card box on your gift table and could maybe incorporate them into like a cookie bar or your favor table. You could also make your escort cards look like tickets. No idea on the globe thing tho except for ebay? Or maybe there is a school teacher supply store.

i was thinking of using a vintage suitcase propped open to hold cards and such, instead of the standard card box idea.

Maybe for your guest book, you could have postcards from across the country on a table- where guests can fill out. You could go one step further and have one of your bridal party peeps mail them out a few at a time, so that you can receive them as surprises after the wedding.

Did you see the thing in "What We Love" on TK main page a while back about the couple who did a Super 8 reel as their 'guest book'? It was so flippin' cute - they had a bunch of fun props like monocles and moustaches on sticks that people could hold in front of their faces, chalk board thought bubbles, etc. Not exactly travel, but it was great for the vintage feel!

And your gown is beautiful!! You're gonna look great in it!
