Re: QOTD 4/23

  • Yes. When I ordered the paper supplies for my DIY invites I had them custom cut the paper and had them send me all the "scraps" so I have all this extra paper (mind you the scraps are huge sheets and not really scraps bc they cut from big sheets) that matches my invites, along with other extra paper bc i could only purchase certain things in packs of 100 and then only needed a certain amount so I need to do something with it...not sure what kind of programs but ive been getting ideas off of etsy, etc.
  • No. I was thinking about it, but we're probably not going to hammer out the details of our ceremony until pretty late in the game, based on the availability of our officiant, and so it would be too last minute of a project. If for some reason we can then maybe, but it's not something I'm planning on. Which is too bad-- we were at a wedding recently without a program and it bothered me, but oh well. If it works, it works. If it doesn't, it doesn't. Can you tell I'm trying to convince myself a little that it'll be okay if we can't make one? Ha!

  • I think so. My family composition is a little interesting, so I'd like everyone to have some idea of who's who and what their significance is. Plus the word nerd in me wants to cite the sources of my readings, LOL.

  • I am not doing them either.  Since the wedding is so small, it would be silly.

  • Yes, I think they're a nice touch, and because I have some time in the summer, I can DIY them. They are definitely not a necessity, though.

  • I haven't decided. I would like to but it probably won't be in the budget...

  • Yes, We have to. We are having a traditional Orthodox ceremony and my family is not Orthodox so they will not know what is going on. We will have a small program explaining all the parts of the Orthodox ceremony.

  • Yes, we are. We're having a Catholic wedding and a lot of non-Catholic guests. So the program will be a standard program and also a guide to Catholic mass (what to say when, when to stand/sti/kneel, etc.)

  • No program for me. There is no wedding party, and it's going to be a rather short JP ceremony, seemed like a waste of paper, time and money to me.
It doesn't have to be perfect to be everything I want!

  • Yup!  I would like to do something similar to this...

  • I was thinking I wouldn't because I wanted to save money, but I have a lot of lighter paper that is left over. So now I am thinking that I will make it out of this leftover paper and do scrolls tied with twine for my rustic ceremony. We'll see though! :)

  • No. We did find an old window at a flea market that I'm going to clean up and decorate. Then I will paint the names of our officiant (my uncle) and the wedding party on there and set it out. We aren't having a religious ceremony so there isn't much else to follow.

I plan on DIYing programs once we finalize the ceremony with our officiant.

  • Yes, I think it is a nice way to honor the BP, making sure everyone knows their names and their relationship to us.

  • I don't think so. It's a shortened version of a Catholic ceremony, and I don't have the budget to do something most people will throw away.

  • I don't think we will. We are having a short civil ceremony and probably no readings so we don't really think it's necessary.

  • I wasn't going to, but then like PPs, it would be another way of highlight the wedding party...it would probably depend on my budget and what I have time to DIY.

  • I'm having a program in order to honor the BP and I'm having untraditional songs for the processional, so people will need to know what's happening when. But I'm having my stepmom make them, so that'll cut down on cost.
  • we  are having a short outdoor wedding, we might make a few.. like 20-25 I know FI family is insane about memoribilia from a special occasion,
so his mom will want to put it in her little book.

    a few not many lol
  • yes.  For multiple reasons.  We'll probably have about 30 mins of special music before the ceremony and when I'm a guest I like to know the title and composer of musical pieces so if I like something I can easily find out what it is.  We are also (hopefully) going to have the church's handbell choir plan Canon in D for when I walk down the aisle.  I want to be able to recognize all of my ceremony musicians.  We are going to have two single white roses on the altar in memory of FI's father and my grandfather but we have at least one or two other people whom I'd like to mention in the program.

  • More than likely, but we haven't planned anything yet. They will more than like be something I order off of VP.
  • No.  Its really not important to me.  However, if I do decide to, the ladies at the church will print something for us.  Basically, it would be just like our regular Sunday bulletin and they have the paper with a pic on the front with wedding rings, or something like that.

  • Yes. I am having a Jewish ceremony and many people there (including some of the Jewish ones) have not seen a whole lot of Jewish weddings. I want to make sure everyone knows whats going on and what it means.

  • FI doesn't really think we need one and I am on the fence.  The ceremony will be short with a judge but I would like to name the BP.  If I decide to make one it will probably somehting from VP.

  • Yes, I was planning on it anyways.  I have a smaller Wedding Party but it would be nice for all the guests to know whom everyone is. I have a lot of family that are also big on the memorabilia so they will be most likely be asking for one.

  • yes but i dont know where to start on them : /

  • Haven't decided yet. If we do, it will be for the purpose of honoring the BP, and FI's father and other loved ones that have passed. We want our final reading/blessing and the recessional to be a surprise so that wouldn't be included.

I'll see how much time I have over the summer. I still have a lot of DIY invites to do and I work two jobs.
