The Mass of Creation is a liturgical music setting by Marty Haugen for songs like the Gloria, Holy Holy, Great Amen, Alleluia, etc. The template your using for a full Mass is the right one! I think you can listen to excerpts of the music on youtube or the publishing company's website.

Ditto newlyseliski. Its a musical setting for the mass. The Mass of Creation is a very popular one, but not the only one. I am using the Mass of Angels and Saints.

As a broader note, these musical settings are changing a bit with the changes in the mass, starting in Advent. So those getting married after that point should make sure they are using the newest versions (and that they choose a mass they like the new version of - I love the Mass of Angels and Saints as it currently is, but am not a big fan of some of the changes in the musical setting needed to accommodate the new wording).

I would say using the Mass of Creation is your safest bet - I think it's probably the most widely-used setting (we'll see if that changes come Advent!).

How is the Mass of the Angels and Saints different from the Mass of Creation? I'm getting married on NYE and would like to know what changes there will be, if you know. Thanks!

All the mass settings are more or less the same words, just put to different music. You know what they are, you just don't realize what you do. There are TONS of different ones (the ones I'm most familiar with are Mass of Creation, Mass of Light, Mass for the Life of the World, Mass of Rememberance, and St. Louis Jesuit's Mass). Ever notice you sing one Holy, Holy one week and a different one another week? They're from different mass settings.

Now, as to how things are changing.... Basically, there is a new translation of all the mass parts (so, the Kyrie, Gloria, Holy Holy, Memorial Acclamation, Amen, and Lamb of God) in addition to other wording throughout the mass that goes into effect this Advent. (You can look here for information http://old.usccb.org/romanmissal/). The wording of many parts of the mass is changing slightly to afford a better English translation.

Savvy, those are two different questions.

the different mass titles "creation", "angels and saints" "mass of light", etc refer to different musical settings. This is the music/melody used when singing the same texts at mass currently.

In Advent this year, the translation..the actual words/texts used will be changing. There are many new music settings written to go along with these.

Here's the people's parts that are changing

Come Advent, there will be a corrected translation of the Mass in effect that does alter the wording of some of the sung Mass parts. Chances are that both of those liturgical music settings will be updated to reflect the updated translation since they're both pretty popular.

Here's an article on the translation of the Mass for Advent 2011:

The changes are a lot more comprehensive for the priest's parts, but here are examples for some of the changes that will affect our responses (Note that the Gloria, Sanctus, Memorial Acclamation, Agnus Dei are all affected):
