My friend's dad is named Gay. I think it was a family name.
  • Aw thanks AATB.

B makes me laugh all the time. I love that we both giggle at horror flicks and the weird gorey ways people die in them. It makes me feel less insane.....or that we're both "special."

I wish I had more time to post on this freakin board.

I miss my sister wife.....its time she moved to NJ. NO MORE EXCUSES RICKS!

I wish Sarahsmiles and Sucrets posted more.
  • Huh. I saw that Lab posted but when I checked the thread it was gone. Did she delete?

Why did I come up as Labia? Dumb Knot issues.

ETA: Okay, apparently she posted, from what others are saying. I thought TK was doing that thing where it substitutes someone else's name for your name. Confusion on my part.
I like AATB. She's really the first person who acknowledged me on the board, I do like the way she expresses herself in her posts and I enjoy her random polls. AATB, you are a PW, but I could care less, since I have nothing else to offer, anyway. I love Led Zepp and wish she would come around more. I'm sick of jumping on people for grammar issues. Yes, if your post is riddled with spelling errors, fragments, run-ons or errors so extreme, I can't understand you, then I think a call out is in order. Sometimes, though, people jump all over someone for one stupid mistake. I get that there is a spell check button, but people are posting here for fun. They really don't have to proofread every post. I have a hazy example in the back of my mind and I wish I remembered the incident, so I could use it as an example. It will probably come to me at a completely useless moment. I'm also a little tired of polls. It seems like everyone posts about the same people over and over again. We get it, you love each other. I know I don't have to read them, and I usually don't for that reason, but it's a Shoutouts thread, so I'm mentioning it :).
    Posted by npasquale16
This is the only reason I don't like Knottie polls being posted a lot, because it does tend to be the same people who get named (for obvious reasons ofc, nothing anyone can do about that), so it's much more entertaining if it's spread out a bit more.
I think people often hypocritically freak out about the use of politically incorrect words here. In no way am I suggesting that using offensive words is ever ok, but I find it hard to believe that not one person that slams people for using words like "gay" and "retarded" in passing have never once used them in conversation themselves. I've described something as "gay" before. I'm human. Sometimes unpretty slang words slip. It's not something I'm proud of, but it has happened. Thats why I don't string someone up for doing things I'm guilty of doing myself. I just think some of the huff and puff over them is because its the "correct" thing to do here, not because everyone actually practices what they preach in real life. This is more my thoughts of this phenomenon on the boards in general, not just this particular instance.

I don't like AMA threads from brand new people. If you are a total stranger to me, I'm not going to care what your hamsters name is or what you like best about your FI. Because I don't know you.

I like Zippys sig picture. It makes me smile every time I see it. Same with the squirrel/coffee sig, although I forget who that belongs to.

J&K, I tired really hard a few weeks ago to photoshop you in your dress into a box as a surprise, but my photoshoping skills are pretty much zero and I failed miserably. But I tried.

  • Ah, I guess she just forgot to quote =D
  • AH! What is going on here?! It's like an alternate universe!
  • She does exist! (like the Christmas M&Ms commercial).

I forgot Anysunrise. I think you hang out in the background a lot, but always have something important/interesting/funny to say. I enjoy reading your posts (but I might be biased since we've both been in LDRs, both met our FIs online, etc).

Agreed1 i sometimes post in the "Polls" threads, I think some o fthem are fun but yes we probably have gone a little over the top with those.

The grammar/spelling thing does get old. If I can read it, I am fine with it. Yes, it amuses me when I see someone does not understand "their, there, they're" but by calling them out on it, just what the bleep am I doing? Showing how much better educated and smart and superior I am?? Blah, it is what you have to say not how edumacated you look doing it.
In Response to Re: Shoutouts : Wait wait. The regular NJ ones.....GTG in NJ with people from this board or local boards?
    Posted by aprovencher21
Local NNJ. I started a book club with a few girls on the NNJ board--we're meeting next week. NNJ also has monthly movie nights (I don't know about SJ).

There could be a GTG with NJ people just from here, though, since the state's pretty tiny. I really don't post on local, so I don't know those girls that much, which makes GTGs intimidating to me.
  • Does a NJ GTG involve GTL?

Oh and East- I agree totally about everything you said about over-censoring and being hyper sensitive. Part of what makes this board so much fun is being able to say all the d*ck, fart, poop, stuff along with the more serious debates about who knows what, but "gay" and "retard" are two things I can't let slide, and I don't IRL either. Actually, it's a bummer to hear that they are norms on the nest, because if they were here, I wouldn't hang out, ya know?

  • Also, I think it depends on the person posting. If a regular or someone I'm familiar with started out a post with "Hey bitches", I wouldn't bat an eye. If someone completely new did the same thing, it seems a little weird. Amelia came out of literally no where.
Labrnr sucks beyond belief. When she first started posting, I kind of liked her even though she was a bit out there because she wasn't afraid to say how she felt. Now, I've just realized that she is just desperate for attention and that's why she is always posting just to go against the grain. She was probably the kid that acted out in school because even negative attention was good attention for her. She disappointed me. I thought maybe she could get passed the whole 'I have to disagree with everyone because I'm a UNIQUE INDIVIDUAL' thing and start being cool, but nope. She didn't.

I'm so lucky that the girls I speak to on theknot are nothing like you...I would've never come on here for ADVICE if I would've encountered a big a bitch as you. I genuinely feel awful for your children or your future children, and I think it would be irresponsible of YOU not to invest in their future therapy sessions starting now.
