I'm hijacking some questions I did on my month board and putting them on here

1. Name three things on your bucket list you want to do with FI/DH.
2. Describe the funny things you imagine when you are old together.
3. Where/how would you retire if money was not an issue?
bonus question:
4. What is your decorating and fashion style and is it the same as FI's? How do you compromise?
Re: Future Poll
- Go on a cycling vacation in Europe (not too many mountains, though)
- Raise children
- Travel to every continent (except Antarctica)
- I imagine FI still playing computer games at 80
- I'll be an active old person, still running, biking, swimming, and going to bootcamp.
- Somewhere in Europe, maybe Italy or France.
Decorating- If I have to dust it, I don't own it. We are pretty much minimalists and have no inclination toward home decorating. My cousin came to visit and told me where to hang pictures. Our condo looks like an advertisement for IKEA.
Fashion- FI is way more fashionable than I am. I have work clothes and althletic clothes and not much in between. FI wears dri fit shirts and jeans every day to work. He has some nice stuff for dressing up, though. He will pay for quality. I'm very frugal.
Drive across the country only using backroads. I'd love to spend an entire summer doing this.
Buy a new house (hopefully sooner than later).
Have another kid.
I don't know the answer to this. I think we are already pretty old and crotchety.
I'd love to retire and move to the outer banks.
I love colorful decor and clothing. I love a mix of modern and classic. Matt has no decorating or fashion style, so he lets me do what ever I want.
Buy a cottage on a lake.
....I'm not sure on a third!
ETA: My taste is comfortable/modern. I like modern looking decor but furniture has to be comfortable! I refuse to own a piece of furniture if it's not comfortable. Our current couch is one of the most uncomfortable pieces of furniture I have ever sat on but it was free when we needed a couch. Never again!
bonus question:4. What is your decorating and fashion style and is it the same as FI's? How do you compromise? We have the same style... maybe 'modern and weird', ha. I asked the question because my parents are exact opposites in everything taste wise, so instead of a mish-mash of stuff, they compromise on everything to the point where everything is boring and neither of them like anything.
Well we have already been to Italy so Bora Bora, Germany, Transilvania, AUS for shark cage diving. That's four but I don't care.

[QUOTE]I'm hijacking some questions I did on my month board and putting them on here :) 1. Name three things on your bucket list you want to do with FI/DH.
Take him to Paris; go on a whale-watching tour; dance at my children's weddings
2. Describe the funny things you imagine when you are old together. I can only hope we're as funny & in love as my parents were, after 60 years of marriage. A funny/inspiring/appalling thing my mom said after my father died: "We never had any problems in that department until a couple of year ago. Your Dad tried the Viagra, but that didn't work out so good." (my mother is 82)
3. Where/how would you retire if money was not an issue? Sanibel Island, Fla.
bonus question: 4. What is your decorating and fashion style and is it the same as FI's? How do you compromise? Eh, close enough. Neither of us have any taste, really.

Take him on a cruise
Travel to Alaska/Ireland
Learn Sign Language
I look forward to him playing Santa with our children/grandchildren
I'd have a summer home in Alaska, a vacation home in Ireland, a beachouse in the Caribbean, and a private jet to fly between them all.
DH likes a modern/minamialist house. My style tends to be more old-fashioned and gaudy. I do admit, however, that I have no sense of style, so when we get the money to actually be able to decorate the house the way we want, I shall defer to his judgement.

2. My SO will probably be just be a more crotechty version of himself now. I can imagine him being one of those people that say, "God damned kids, ruining my law." And he'd shake his cane at them.
3. Probably Florida, like most Jews.
4. Luckily for the both of us, I'm in charge of everything asethetic.
Travel as much as possible together. I have done a lot of Europe, and parts of the Middle East, but I want to do it all over again with him. And add the Far East, South America, and Africa. His #1 place is Tokyo.Raise a boy and a girl Buy a small boutique hotel on a beautiful beach...live on property, and make our retirement income off of the hotel.
2. Describe the funny things you imagine when you are old together.
I will be senile, and constantly tell inappropriate dirty stories that make the grandkids cringe. Much like myself now. He will be shaking his head and wondering how he got stuck with me. He will tell the same dumb jokes over and over and repeat words or phrases he finds funny, like he has Tourettes. Much like himself now.
3. Where/how would you retire if money was not an issue?
So hard to answer. Either the beach property listed above in Mexico, South of France, Santorini, Laguna, Barcelona.
bonus question:4. What is your decorating and fashion style and is it the same as FI's? How do you compromise?
He actually has really good taste but it would not be implemented without me. I like an eclectic mix of minimal, dark wood, grays and taupes and whites, some antique pieces and some modern pieces and some ethnic pieces, very sleek but with warmth and character. NO clutter, NO knicknacks. He would love to go more modern...very mid century Palm Springs style. I love that also, but not with the style of house we currently have.
Travel to Greece and Rome to see the ancient ruins
Make our businesses a success
Run our own native plant nursery
DH and I both will be grumpy old people. We'll be the ones telling kids to be quiet, turn down their music, and get off the lawn. I'll likely be the old lady with too many cats who tells inappropriate jokes, while DH will not remember anytold told to him and will spend all his time fishing.
3. Where/how would you retire if money was not an issue?
We are alike fashion wise because we don't care. Neither of us wear name-brand things or expensive clothing. We kind of just throw something on and hope it matches. As for decor, I like funky things. DH lets me deorate however I want so long as I let him organize the garage how he wants. Works for me.
- Buy a home
- Have 2 children
- Travel to Italy
- We will both be crabby and will probably argue over things like who gets to hold the remote and then we will cuddle and smooch and gross our grandchildren out!
- I want us to live close to our families but have the money and health to still travel and enjoy our free time together. Of course, I'll also want a beach house to crash out for some of the year!
- When it comes to decorating I'm a mix of very traditional and old world. I like elaborate details and natural tones. FI likes his Cowboys football poster.
- My fashion sense is very classic but a little trendy, I believe that styling can make or break an outfit. FI wears athletic gear most of the time but will usually throw on a button down and jeans when we head out.
Go to Australia, have children and watch them have families, go to Ireland
3. Where/how would you retire if money was not an issue?
We are not the same at all. I am more earthy inspired with flowers, bright colors and very "flower child" type of feel, he is crisp clean modern, clean lines, black and white, etc. Our house has his style as the main one, with my little pops of color and earth mixed in.
