I put spiders, but I also deeply loathe roaches and bugs that fly. I had a tarantula wasp fly into my house earlier this summer. Thank goodness for my halogen lamp for luring the fuucker in and burning it to a crisp. The one I had wasn't quite this big. But close.

Holy hell, that is the epitome of my worst fear. Huge spiders, huge wasps. I'm scared to death of both. I almost cried when I saw that picture. I mean, literally. Almost cried. That thing should not exist outside of my worst nightmares. I had to close my eyes once I saw what it was. And then squint to find the quote button.

A huge spider crawled out from under the hamper in FI's bathroom last week when I was...shall we say, doing my business...and I literally sprang up on top of the toilet and screamed for him to come and kill it. Then I proceeded to blubber on about how it tried to kill me and it was so huge, and when he threw it in the garbage I wouldn't get down off the toilet until he took the garbage out. As in out of the house. Because it might come back to life, you know? Especially since the damn thing was so hard to kill in the first place.

And I'm crazy allergic to bee/wasp/hornet stings and have to carry and Epi-pen with me wherever I go. So there's that.

 • I should also add a fear of clowns, things around my neck (scarves, turtlenecks, hands, anything constricting), flying, and that I'm claustrophobic. I had to have an MRI last week and I almost passed out in that stupid tube I was so freaked out.
In Response to Re: Irrational Fears : I am so glad to live in a place with very few bugs. We do have huge cockroaches. They get big by... I dunno, eating all our garbage or something. We don't have any IN our house, but sometimes I see them on the sidewalk and sometimes they get IN our house. One day the cat ran up to play with something and... yeah it was a roach almost as big as he was. I'm not afraid of snakes. Just of things with more legs than 4. Except ants and flies. Those just annoy me.

Posted by msmerymac
Eww. I had this hideous dream last night that there were giant cockroaches everywhere, and huge spiders that looked like lobsters which were gripping onto my head (I woke to find myself with a huge headache, which explained that!).

Anyway, fears- I'm not overly afraid of anything, but I do get bizarre irrational fears. I had a fear about making a copy of my PhD documents up until recently. This stems from an experience I had a couple of years ago where I went to copy my photos, accidentally cut and pasted, but the paste failed and my images ended up corrupted... so I've been working on this huge thesis, and had this fear that if I made a copy I would somehow corrupt it.

Logic won out and I finally made a copy last week (now that it is pretty much done); I had to close and open the documents a few times to check (hello OCD!) but it was totally fine. So ridiculous!
In Response to Re: Irrational Fears : I have an emergency carrier ready. Demon's regular carrier is huge, but her old one is a bit small so she can't sit/stand in it. I keep it built in case of emergencies. I also keep one (broken down) in my car because you never know when you'll need one.

Posted by katiewhompus
You remind me of something I am scared about; this is my first house with a fireplace, and my first house in a more remote, bush like location; I'm pretty worried about bushfires (perhaps logically) and housefires, and always live out the 'what if' scenario and imagine how I'd go about saving the kitties if that were to happen. My fear is that we'll go away for a night, and come home to the house burnt down with our (indoor) cats inside- I'm always a little relieved when we drive up the street and see the house still standing.
