Do I need a wedding planner?

Im trying to have my ceremony at a catholic church and my reception at southern oaks. I am a oot bride with 100% of my guest coming from oot as well.  Do you think I need a wedding planner/coordinator?

I'm in the same boat as you, minus the church ceremony. We got a DOC who has a "management" package. We can ask her for suggestions on vendors and use her contacts but we still do the legwork and she takes over 2 weeks out.

The only reason I would even suggest a wedding planner is the OOT thing.  I'm a full-time Ph.D. student balancing life and a part-time job, and I'm planning my own wedding.  It's been a cakewalk so far, but my FH and I are pretty low-key and we've both lived here our whole lives, so we know the traditional go-to vendors.

The OOT thing might make things a little more difficult for you, but I think theknot boards will be a great resource helping you find who to go to, if you decide to try to do everything yourself.  Good luck!!

PS - We looked at Southern Oaks.  Looks gorgeous.  :)

I was also an OOT bride and I would say yes! Our planner was in New Orleans and not only that she has been in business for 5+ years and had a great database so I never had to worry about the vendors i was hiring because they had every piece of info on vendors that I needed even proposals! They have a virtual office so my wedding plans were never more than a login away. I went with Nikki of 318 Designs because she knows the industry and the fact that she was always full of solutions to what I thought was issues. Bottom line the 318 designs team was awesome and they saved us from making $$$ mistakes.
    my 2 cents
