Wedding Reception Forum

Are you using or do you know of multi-functional reception items?

Are there seating card displays that can double as favors?

Or, are there centerpiece ideas that double as favors?

I'm trying to see how I can kill two birds with one stone as these things I don't want to spend too much on and would love to incorporate somehow but I am uncreative.

Thanks!

Re: Are you using or do you know of multi-functional reception items?

  • I thought about having a bunch of small pots of orchid plants as centerpieces and having guests take a pot of orchids home with them as their favor.  That ended up being too casual for our wedding, but I loved the idea.
  • I am probably doing 5x7 picture frames that have a printout of the persons name and table number. I would do one for each couple and paint them myself. I found picture frames at the craft store for about $2 each. It would be a project to get them all painted, but I like that I can put a little note on there that says it was hand painted by the bride. I plan on popping out the glass and spray painting them in the yard on a sheet to get them done faster. This fits into my theme tho, so I don't know it if helps you at all
  • I went to a wedding last summer where the seating cards were the favors. i think it's fine to combine things like that. The key is to fiind something that fits you two as a couple and then come up with a way to incorporate it.
For example, if you like gardening, then you could do either a small potted flower with a ribbon and the name tied around it. Or you could do a pot with a packet of seeds and a baggie of soil tucked inside; and then have a little written note saying something like "May these flowers grow in your care as love has grown in ours."
I always thought something like that would be cute, but I have a black thumb and would probably kill the poor plants trying to attach the ribbons (plus my FI is a true city boy).
However you do it, just make it something that represents you two, and it will turn out beautifully.
  • I went to a wedding where the placecards were little shell picture frames, and instead of a picture, the guest's name was written on plain paper in the frame.  It was cute, although I don't have any pictures of that size, so I haven't used the frame.
  • I love cupcakes, so my fiance and I decided to have a cupcake stand at each table to serve as the centerpiece also.

Not sure your theme/ envision for your wedding but you could have bowls of candy on each table as then centerpiece then provide your guest with treat bags so they have take the candy home with them.
