Re: Happy Thursday

  • Morning,

I am so happy everything is going well for your house. I am excited for you!

I am not going to lie.. Wendy's sounds so good right now..
yay Italian food. I brought tuna wraps for lunch today. I am super excited to eat it!

If all goes to plan FI will be coming home today, So I have to clean.. I didn't want to clean at all while he was gone. I am fine with doing laundry but when its sitting in the basket waiting to get put away I want to leave it there.

  • Brit - YAY so exiting!

I am just plain worn out. I've done something every day for the past 2 weeks. And tonight is our Christmas party at work. But I don't have to work tomorrow, and don't really have anything to do besides stuff around the house and I am telling H there is NO way I am leaving the house, unless it's for him to buy me dinner.

You go swag! I'm actually really jealous you get fridays off! It'll pick up soon tho, right?

I have no idea what side dishes I'm going to make for christmas- any suggestions that are super yummy?

    apple- where has FI been?
    image
  • Swag -  I am way jealous too. When I started my schedule was 4 10's but since I started I have been working 5 10's

Brittany -  He has been working in wyoming, I sounded like he was having fun with his new job when I talked to him last night.

Morning ladies!! Went to a doc apt with my mom yesterday and went shopping. Found the last perfect gift for FI- a Fossil watch at TJ Maxx for $50, normally $135.

Sawg- I'll feel like that in a week... my studio is decorated like crazy (2 huge trees and 30 moving dolls- creepy haha) and we have a little Christmas party after every class. Yayyy making 500 sugar cookies. But the kids love it, but the thought wipes me out. Glad you'll be able to lay low this weekend. Oh! And I told FI about going to Target after Christmas for sale decorations and he was totally in. We've had a $50 gift card in FI's wallet for a while.

Brittany, I'd discovered a deep love of sweet potatoes recently! I can't wait to try this recipe.
  • Edie, me too! It's borderline a problem, like I've found myself to occasionally buy things just for the deal, despite if I 'need' them or not. I've gotten better since my early college years.

This has been my problem since I started couponing... I have 20 toothpastes.. because they were so cheap not because I need 20.
Image and video hosting by TinyPic Anniversary
  • We are hanging out waiting for discharge paperwork. I love good deals as well and sometimes I try to stop and think if I really need this item. Sometimes that strategy fails though.
    image
  • How much do you coupon, apple? I've watch the show a couple times- seriously amazing! I so wish homeless shelters or soup kitchens would employ someone to be their coupon queen so they could get such amazing prices. I know a woman who used to do it a lot and ended up going crazy- I'm talking cat litter when they don't have a cat.

Good deals are great, apple i don't know what to say about your 20 toothpastes, it certainly made me laugh!

I usually use "its on sale, and I have a coupon" to convince H to let me get stuff!
    image
  • I don't do it nearly as much as my mom.
My mom will buy everything. but I do it about once every two weeks I am no where near as good as the people on those shows.
Usually I get $120 work of stuff for $60.

lol I will never run out.. toothpaste is my only bad one. everything else I just buy a few.

  • That's still awesome. I normally plan my menu based around what's on sale already. It works for us.

I do this too. its nice. I wish I could do it like the people on those shows or even like my mom does but she is weird about it. she really might go crazy from it.

Awe, Charlie.. That breaks my heart..

  • AppleJam - I normally love your animated gifs in your sig, but this one is making me dizzy.

I should try to coupon more. I usually only go to the grocery store right before I'm going to make dinner to get what I need which is usually fresh produce and meat. We do shop at Costco every couple months to stock up on other things though and I know that saves us a lot of money. But for the most part I think I do a good job of keeping our food cost very low.

Brittany - my mom made this sweet potato recipe at Thanksgiving. It was amazing.

I love brussels sprouts, so this also looks heavenly

I forgot to put on my rings today. I wear my wedding band on one hand and my engagement on the other, so it makes me feel extra naked when I forget to put them back on in the morning.

<div>Fortunately I love mostly all vegetables, so here's a recipe for roasted green beans. </div><div>
</div><div>This is a simple one. If you want to make it just a little more rich, after the beans are done cooking, add some toasted pine nuts to it or sliced toasted almonds (they're a bit cheaper). A splash of lemon juice would be nice too. </div><div><a rel="nofollow" href="http://www.skinnytaste.com/2011/11/roasted-parmesan-green-beans.html">http://www.skinnytaste.com/2011/11/roasted-parmesan-green-beans.html</a></div><div>
</div><div>My go-to simple way is roasting them with a little olive oil, salt and pepper and adding a splash of balsamic vinegar when they're done cooking. Sometimes I'll also add cherry tomatoes to roast with them as well.</div><div>

Love brussel sprouts!  No one else I know does, but I do.

I don't have the patience for couponing.  Come to think of it, I don't have much patience for anything anymore ;).  I just use my grocery store's discount card (one also gives me a discount on gas if I buy it at their affliated station).  But I'm normally a pretty decent shopper.

Buzz - I saw your pics on WR.  Your eye makeup looked amazing.

Got my out of state Christmas packages out yesterday.  So mom's Kinkade is Fed Exing its way to Florida.  Relief!

ETA:  Brit - since you're doing Italian for Christmas this year, what would you serve as a side for lasagna (beside a salad and bread)?
  • Brit- Roasted Carrots.
    http://www.sugarlaws.com/glazed-carrots

Also, I am ready for the weekend.  I woke up thinking it was Friday, and now I'm tired and mad/sad that it isn't.
  • I think I'm going to make this tonight, but sub out chicken thighs for breasts and serve it over a romain lettuce or spinach, and maybe add olives. Btw, I love the skinnytaste food blog. I'll get stuck there for an hour without even realizing it, and "pin" almost every recipe.

AppleJam - Much better! Can't go wrong with Ken. The other one just played too quickly over and over. Have any of Channing Tatem? :)

Marrin - Thank you! To me, makeup artists are worth every penny.

We usually have italian green beans, and usually sauted mushrooms , and sometimes italian potatoes(you use the small kind, and cut them in half, boil them, then saute them in onions, olive oil, and balsamic vinegar, and add cherry tomatoes.

Brit - not sure of the name of the song.  It was already on when I got back into the car, but I started listening to the lyrics.  I should have Sound Hounded it, but by the time I pulled phone out of my purse, the song was over and the DJ said name of the band but not the name of the song.  Anyway it was the first time I heard of the band and now the following AM I hear about them again from you.
