Reception venue help downtown Milwaukee

I recently got engaged and am looking for reception venue downtown Milwaukee.  We are having a smaller wedding of about 100 to 125 people.  Here are the stipulations:
not a ballroom
on the less expensive side (not Pier WI)
can have either ceremony or reception outside

Hotel Metro's rooftop is exactly what I am looking for, but it can only hold 50 people.  I am also looking at Swig and Iron Horse Hotel.  I am looking for more of a contemporary, modern feel.

Any help would be great.  Thanks!

I had my reception at Hotel Metro on the rooftop, but we also were seriously considering Iron Horse.  It is a stunning hotel, but was a little on the pricier side since our wedding was so small.  Our guests would have had to eat and drink a lot to meet the minimums!  I would recommend it though!

We were also looking for a modern/loft feel for our ceremony and reception venue. So, we're having the wedding at Cuvee in the Third Ward. It's a lovely space, and so far the owner and the event director have been great to work with.

My roommate is having her reception at Cuvee 5 months later, so I feel I can't have it there.  Otherwise that would have been the perfect place.  Bummer!

Just sent you a PM with more details, but The Eisner American Museum is a fantastic venue!

Perhaps try the Marcus Center for the Performing arts, or Coast.

    Good luck!

We are having ours at Coast Restaurant.  It's a beautiful venue (not traditional at all which is what I loved). We are having 130 (although the number did creep up but that's what we based it on).   Good luck and congrats!!

We are having our ceremony and reception at Villa Filomena.  It's right over by the Astor.  The Comfort Inn & Suites is kiddy corner to it, so that's really convenient.  The owners/coordinators are great and so easy to work with.  We are having our ceremony outside on the terrace and then the dinner reception will be indoors.  Let me know if you want any more information on them.  FI just redid their website: villafilomena.com

I have heard that the Lakefront Palm Garden in the Lakefront brewery is really affordable and good to work with.  I am checking them out in the next two weeks.

Try a Bartolotta Restaurant. We are renting out Bacchus right on the Lakefront for our wedding.

Hinterland Erie Street Gastropub - Ambiance is amazing.  Food is even more amazing.  Can be designed modern or rustic and guests can walk to bars afterward for plenty of post-wedding fun. The max they can accommodate is 135, but if you can get your guest list to around this number, it is the perfect space.  Ask for Andrea and tell her Nate and Katie referred you!  They were so nice and sweet to us for our wedding.
