Re: The real poll

  • If my wedding dress costs over $1000, I may self destruct.
  • Joy, you make me laugh...lol. I hope you don't explode!

  • My dress was $750. I really can't imagine that I ever could have spent more than $1,000 on it.

  • Okay, I obviously suck at finding good deals. Good for all of you who kept it under a grand. My dress was $1900, but including all the tax and alterations put it slightly over 2K. Boo....but then again, it was couture, so I really can't complain.

  • Mine was $250 off the rack, and then another $150 in alterations.

  • Umm. so I am the dummy that picked the option for what my wedding costs and not just the dress. Apparently I need to read better. My dress cost right at $1500.

    Less than $1000

  • The dress itself cost $250, and $50 for the crinoline.  I haven't had alterations done yet.
    Married 10/2/10
  • My dress was $125, and $25 for alterations.
  • I refused to try anything on that was over $600.  My dress ended up being $595.
    Anniversary
  • Dress was $615 and its not in yet so I cant tell you about alterations.
I updated my bio on 06/24/10, however if you want to see my planning bio you have to go to www.lizardlipsplanningbio.weebly.com because I am having a hard time making it clicky!
  • My mom made mine, which is why it was so little, in a store it would probably be 4,000.  Thats what the dresses I was looking at were costing, it all depends.  You can get less expensive ones, but it depends what you are looking for.  If you need silk and so on its going to cost more.

  • I haven't put my contacts in and accidentally voted 3000+ because I missed a zero.  I thought it was 300 and up.  My dress cost $321.  I'm renting the crinny for $35.  It way to early to do alterations, but I'm guessing it will be about $100.
  • Just ordered my dress off the rack from Macys.   It's $180.  Just popped in to this thread to say, Stina you look great!  Congrats and love the new sig photo!

    $800.

The crinoline, veil, longline bra, and tiara were another $400, and the alterations were $45.

  • Dress was $650.  Crinoline was $50.   Alterations and the bustle cost $225.

  • About $1500 with the exchange rate, and that included alterations. I don't regret it - it was within my budget, and I LOVE my dress.
  • I think the dress was just under $600 including taxes.  Alterations were $60-65, then about another $25 to fix the bustle and get fashion tape to hold up my dress after the seamstress butchered the alterations.  Fortunately the mess ups on the BM dresses were more easily fixable or not noticeable enough to need to be fixed.
  • I think I'm going to land in the $1000 range (so that's what I voted). My dress is about $850 and with the alterations/bustling I'm expecting it to be bumped up closer to $1000.

I am really impressed by how many people got awesome prices for their dresses. I feel like maybe I needed to look a little harder!

  • Mine was $50. Massive clearance, simple beachy dress. It's being altered and redone now, by FI's grandma, who wouldn't think of taking any money from me, even though I told her I'd compensate her.
All in all, I'm spending more on my accessories than anything.

  • Reading this I feel like I got ripped off in the alterations department. Actually I felt that way before reading this.... lol. If any of you are getting your dress from David's bridal, find someone else to alter it. $280! ee gads.
    Dress was $600.

    Mine too. Go David's Bridal!
  • Mine was a $99.00 dress from David's Bridal. My alterations are being done free by a friend of my family. I borrowed my veil and tiara from my best friend and my sister and I are making all the jewelery for the BM's and I.
  • My gown was $295 and my petticoat was $49, all from Aria Bridesmaids, for a grand total of $345.  I haven't gotten alterations yet.
  • My Maggie Sottero was $1300 with alterations. I am barrowing my underskirt from a cousin who just got married.

My orginial dress was $600 but UPS destroyed it and I was forced to get my money back and try again. :-(

    Much happier with second dress.
  • Mine was originally $875 but I  got a GREAT deal since one of my BM's aunts worked at a Bridal shop so I go it for $595 including the double shipping I hade to payLaughing

  • My dress was $830 including tax. I was looking at a dress for $2,500, but that's practically half of what I'm spending on the entire wedding, and the dress I bought suits an outdoor wedding more.

I don't know how much alterations are going to cost, as we normally have a family friend do alterations for us, but unfortunately she's battling breast cancer right now. Which is obviously a bigger concern than getting cheap alterations. I'll probably just get a bustle anyway, everything else should fit fine, so I might just have it done at the shop where I bought the dress.

Dress was $650, alterations were $140 (I lost too much weight - darn!), cathedral veil $40 (it was 60% off!).
  • $1,300 all in. It was $950 without alterations, I absolutely adore it.
