Re: Tell me the gas price in your area

  • Anywhere from 3.60ish to 3.99 a gallon in No-Dak.

  • Lowest in the area is 3.59. It makes me giggle when Brandon complains about gas prices, back home it's the equivalent of almost 5 bucks a gallon.
  • This weekend we saw a range of 3.65-3.79/gallon. This morning I saw one place with $3.85 and it made me sad because its the place I go to for their amazing car wash and yummyt breakfast tacos. Guess I'll only be washing there..

  • I have to use premium and here in Tampa it's about $4.05 right now; diesel for my truck is about $4 even.

  • I don't get it. Indiana is like, the asscrack of America. Someone who is econ smrt tell me why it's more expensive here.
  • It's around $3.70/gal here. Blech. We're almost to summer of '08, $70 to fill up my mid size sedan prices. H and I were long distance the last time gas was this expensive and we almost couldn't afford to drive to see eachother sometimes.

  • About $3.69 to $3.75 a gallon here.  It cost me $45 to fill up yesterday.
  • We're at about 3.68-3.83 here depending on what part of town you happen to be in. This weekend when we were driving back from West Texas through some podunk towns, the gas was 3.98. That's so ridiculous considering they probably have to drive 20 miles to even get to a Wal mart.

It was $3.79 this morning when I filled up (near the coast, Ga).

    edited to delete redundancy.

Thank your buyers/sellers in the oil markets.  There's no shortage of oil or any crisis going on or anything, just a hell of a lot of speculation.  They're probably worried that all the unrest in the middle east is going to cause problems with oil supply.

ETA - The last time gas got this high, one of our senators called the influx in oil prices the result of "an orgy of speculation."

  • Most stations here have regular for $3.55

I think demand, formulation and transportation costs all factor into it.  i.e. obviously the cheaper it is to get gas to a particular area the less suppliers will charge, but that can go far beyond just the cost of hauling it and can include things like state licensing costs, vehicle registration fees, vehicle taxes by gross weight, etc.  Then there's also states that have laws about the gas formulation that requires added ingredients or further refining, like California, or regulations on gas stations that must be followed (again, like California with the gas fume recovery thing on the pump handles), or higher taxes (since posted prices include the tax), etc.

Gas is a pretty popular thing for municipalities to tax since the tax is included in the price and people don't realize who they should be pissed off at when they pay more in a particular area since the recipet doesn't say $3.50/gallon + $0.50/gallon in tax.

  • I don't get why it's about on average here (especially for being on the coast), yet we have full service stations and almost nowhere else does (unless I'm wrong).

I haven't seen a full service station in forever but that surprises me even more it doesn't cost a lot more since those stations lose out on the revenue from people going inside to buy overpriced soda, etc.

  • I think it is 3.80, but I honestly don't know... and it sort of doesn't matter.  I still have to drive to work everyday (unless a new magic bus route appears) and I don't go much of anywhere else too far away.  I also can't afford a Prius, no matter what the cost of gas becomes in the next year or two.  So, I sort of don't pay attention...

  • $4.29 for regular.  H only uses premium on his car, so I spent well over $60 on filling up his tank yesterday.  Grr.
  • $4.22 for regular.

  • Ugh, $4.05 here.  And it makes me very sad. I've become a hermit as a result.

  • God, you people are lucky. FI just filled up the tank ($82) and gas is about $4.149. The highest is the Chevron and it's $4.25..
  • $4.30 a gallon here for regular.

  • Yeah...our price right now is $5.32 a gallon (when I filled up today) but it was $5.44 a gallon on Saturday. They say by summer it will be about $6.40!  My car is costing about $60 to fill...DHs truck would be $130+
  • It's $3.39 when I got gas last night I think I saw Phoenix yesterday at $3.59

  • 3.85 in middle of nowhere kansas. have to drive 20 minutes to do anything.

  • I think I may have to start walking once gas goes above $4! It's about $3.70 in south Jersey, but we had to pay $3.97 Saturday in my hometown in north Jersey.

I can't imagine paying over $4 AND having to pump it myself! I think full service gas stations may be the one good thing Jersey has going for it.
