Insurance for my E-Ring

Can anyone recommend insurance companies that insure jewelry?  I've read up on State Farm and their Personal Articles Policy and Jewelers Mutual Insurance.  Right now the ring is under my mom's homeowners policy until I get it appraised and insured on my own but the more I read the more I'm confused...can anyone help?

Thanks!  Smile

I can't keep it on the home owners because technically its not my home lol...and my mom said I can leave it on her policy until we move in together, but I like to get things done ahead of time lol...

@hobokenbride2012...do you like jewelers mutual?  i found the quote section a little confusing because most insurance companies use the appraisal not the actual retail quote....

This.  Def wait for the appraisal to come in since that is generally what your ring is worth and if you lose it/if it's stolen that's what it will be insured for.

Actually you have to send the appraisal to get the insurance.  My premium is based on the apprasial value, not the retail value.  You can always call them up and ask.

FH used Jeweler's Mutual. My ring was insured before he even left the jeweler's with it.

My Allstate agent told us to use Jewelers Mutual and we are setting up the policy ASAP.

I have a state farm personal articles policy -- they will reimburse us the original retail value. We didn't have to get it appraised. I think it runs us $60/year for the e-ring/wedding ring insurance.

Mine is insured under my homeowners insurance.  We have liberty mutual.  Mine was also based upon the appraisal value not the retail.  I think we pay $120 a year but that will also vary from person to person depending on how much your ring gets appraised for.  FI had the ring appraised the day he bought the ring and I had it insured the monday after we got engaged.

I have my rental insurance on my apartment (as well as car insurance) through State Farm so I just added it as a separate policy rider to that.  It's super cheap, something like $11 for every $1,000 per year.  It was quick and easy, I just emailed my agent the appraisal.

We also use Jeweler's Mutual.  We got the appraisal from jeweler and had to send in a copy of the appraisal to them.  The website quote is based on the appraisal value.

Thanks for all your help everyone!  I am getting my ring appraised on the 25th so hopefully soon after I'll get some quotes and make my decision from there.

    Thanks again everyone!!

We use Jewelers Mutal as well and have had a wonderful experience so far. I've heard great feedback from people who lost rings and had to replace through them. One thing that also sealed the deal for me, was that they allow you to replace your ring at whatever jewelery store you choose. Other ones we looked at said that they choose the place and we really had no choice. I wasn't a fan of that! I dont want someone else telling me where I can get my things replaced at and where I can't. So just be sure to always ask about that when finding the best insurance for you. In terms of price, like a few others have said, it all depends on the appraisal price for your ring as well as the level of coverage you put on it. My e-ring coverage runs me around $450 a year.
