I don't want to thread jack so....

I didn't like Paris because it was just a big, noisy, dirty city. There were other cities in France I liked better. Don't get me wrong, the sights in Paris were amazing. The Louvre, the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, Arch de Triumph, those were great, but the city itself I didn't like.

My favorite city was Salzburg. That is an amazing city!

See, I am the opposite, I thought the popular sights in Paris were just okay and the real city was awesome. Notre Dame knocked my socks off though.

Although I would pick Marseilles over Paris any day, and I would pick the smaller towns over Marseilles

I have only been to France, so I will pick Marseilles and Annecy as my two faves from there.

I hear you about the dirty city aspect. I didn't make it to Salzburg, unfortunately. I was living in Freiburg, Germany, and that would have been one long train ride. I really liked Barcelona, too. It was by far the aesthetically pleasing city that I visited.

Favorite place I've EVER been was Maui. The air was so friendly and moist I never even had to wear lotion the entire time. My skin was glowing, my hair was shining. Just awesome.

Plus the air smells sweet, all the fruit tastes incredible, the beaches are gorgeous and the hiking is awesome. Just an all around great place to be. I think I wore shoes 25 percent of the time, haha.

Just wish it wasn't so damn expensive!

LOVE to visit NYC......standing in Time Square at 2am when it should be dark & with all the lights you feel like its day time. Even though its super cold in the winter....we went 1 year during Christmas to see the tree at Rockefeller & it started to snow, I have to say it felt magical.

I've never been out of the states :P But when I was a kid, my parents and I went to Colorado a lot...I've always loved that place. FI and I are going to Maryland next summer. We'll probably go visit DC, Pennsylvania and maybe New York. And then there's our honeymoon...Las Vegas baby!

I haven't traveled much. I went to the Bahamas and loved it. Yes the ports are dirty but I went to the Atlantis Hotel and it was amazing. In the states I really liked Utah. I went in both winter and summer and it was a very nice place to visit. FI has travelled way more than I have and he really likes Spain. We are currently discussing having a DW. So we are trying to narrow down where we would like to go.

I disliked Paris as well, but I loved Aix en Provence.

My favorite place in Europe was Copenhagen but I might be a bit biased because I lived there for 4 months and really got to experience everything.

And this is a little odd, but I loved Poland. It was nothing like I expected, but the EU membership has done great things for their country. The food was awesome and there was a lot of cool stuff to see, and everything was still dirt cheap.

Stateside, my favorites are Vegas, Outer Banks NC; Charleston, SC; and Savannah, GA.

Growing up with geographically unadventurous parents, I hardly ever travelled. I've never been out of the states, unfortunately, but now that I'm older, I can venture out and go to places I've only dreamed of. Luckily for me, BF likes to travel too, so we are discovering new places together.

From where I've been so far, I like DC. And BF and I are probably going to take a trip down to Williamsburg, VA in the winter.

I loved Poland too! Holland was awesome! All that cheese! We used to be able to go to the Markplatz on Saturdays in our German town and get cheese from Holland, fresh veggies and fruit that were just picked in the field yesterday, fresh meat from the butcher, and then go to the Backerei for the most awesome breads, rolls and sweets on the planet!

Backereis are the reason I gained 5-10 lbs while in Europe. Chocolate croissants are my weakness, and there was a Backerei right outside my tram stop for school. I could not resist.

Barcelona is one of our favorites. Can't wait to go back. We also loved Aix and also Eze. Paris and Rome were great to experience, but we really loved the quaintness of the small villages like Eze and Aix. Malaga Spain was beautiful.

I never went to Holland when I was overseas. A bunch of friends and I were going to go the weekend of Cannibus Cup, and I backed out at the last minute because I had a mandatory field trip for class and the professor threatened the class when she found out people were thinking about skipping it, which was stupid because it was an art museum, we were on our own the whole time, and we easily could have gone back another day to complete the assignment.

I'm still bitter, apparently.

I was OBSESSED with Anne Frank in middle school and I've always wanted to see the hideout.

Vegas is seriously theshit, there is something for everyone there. Even my tightwad husband had a blast. I can't wait to go back; we didn't buy tickets to any shows and they were all sold out when we got there. I'll know next time.

I've never been to Europe either.

But Montreal is GORGEOUS, and I love Houston.

Strangely though, one of my very favorite places was this little village called La Digue, in Haiti, about an hour outside of Port-au-Prince. It was so pretty and peaceful, and the people who lived there were so sweet and friendly. (This was all pre-earthquake, and La Digue did sustain some damage, but it wasn't too bad.) I can't wait to go back!

London. Without a doubt. I did a summer semester there and a year later dragged my best friend back for a 2 week trip. If fate hadn't intervened and brought FI and me together, I'd be living there right now.

I really, really didn't enjoy Paris. Yes, the Louvre and the Arc de Triomphe and the Eiffel Tower are interesting and worth it in their own right, but beyond the food, I found the city dirty and smelly and not at all romantic. FI loves it though.

Well, I'm going to Italy in three days, and it will be my first time in Europe, so I'm looking forward to that.

Stateside, I've liked most of the travel I've done in the US. I really love going on road trips and seeing new places. I enjoyed all the small towns in New England that FI and I saw last month when we were doing my dissertation fieldwork. I also love mountains, wherever they may be.

We LOVED Scotland. We liked London too, but I hate the Tube and I could never drive there. Edinburgh was super cool, very walkable, and the weather was great (60 and rainy - which was fine, since we're two people living in LA who were there in August). We'd love to go back and go to a bunch of distilleries and explore the islands and highlands.

I kind of hate Vegas. I can deal with it for 36 hours before I get really sick of it. And it's expensive.

CS, I love Montana. I've only been to a small corner of it, but it was absolutely gorgeous.

I really liked Berlin. A lot. And it's not very expensive, especially by European capital standards. Prague is beautiful, but I loved the vibe in Berlin more. When I tell people where I've traveled they always gush about Prague and I'm like, "Yeah, it was nice, but..."

Heels, I really want to go to Charleston. I used to read a lot of historical fiction when I was a kid and I think it would be beautiful. NOLA, too.

I didn't like Paris either, dirty and unromantic. We did the tourist spots like the Eiffel Tower, but I didn't think it was too spectacular.

My favorite place to visit on my trip to Europe was Italy! Totally worth it! I LOVED everything about it: the delicious food, the friendly people, and the amazing cities (Venice, Florence, Rome). I would go back in a heart beat. My second favorite place was Greece. Athens was dirty and gross ( I was there before they were chosen to host the Olympics so things may have changed) but the islands are incredible!

In the states, FI and I both love Maine! We just got back from a trip there last week. Lobster + 75 degree weather with no humidity + the ocean= perfect vacation!

My favorite place in the world is Oia, Santorini. My daughter and I stayed in a little all white villa carved in the side of the cliff and pretended to be a local for 5 days. I shopped at the market and cooked. I fed a little kitty, who ended up howling outside our door every day at 8 am until we let her in and she would crawl in bed with us and sleep for a couple hours. We left our door wide open during our daytime naps.

I also loved Nice, France; San Sebastian, Spain; Barcelona; Mykonos. I just love to travel and can appreciate and love everywhere I have been for one reason or another.

In North America, my favorites have been San Francisco, Maui, DC, Miami, NYC, Chicago and Playa Del Carmen, Mexico. And Turks and Caicos.

I've only been there once, but Ecuador is my absolute favorite place. Not so much Quito (too many begging children and creepy men), but being in the rainforest and the village on Mondana was probably the best time of my life.

Other than that I don't really travel. We don't have the money so our trips consist of driving back home to see family, about 2 hours away.
