Actual dresses, totally not punking y'all this time.

Re: Actual dresses, totally not punking y'all this time.

  • poor mike. how about some sheer straps with it? that might look nice.
  • Number 7 is gorgeous on you.  FWIW from a newbie
  • I added a picture of the back of 2, to maybe campaign for it a little bit harder, but my mind changes from minute to minute anyway. I like ALL of the dresses. #2 was the first one that really wowed us, so I'm attached to it for that reason, to.

I rotated the pictures, I don't know why they won't stay rotated!

    I really appreciate everyone's opinion!

  • And..um..that lady in the background of 7? The one in the black dress? Is that your mom or something?

  • I like #2 as well TJ. The straps are pretty, IMO and maybe it's just me, but I get a vintage vibe from it.

  • I'm holding firm to my statement that those mini sleeve things on number two do absolutely nothing to flatter you.  All they do is draw the eye outward in both directions.  If that dress just didn't have them, I would like it.

  • I like number 4.

Sorry, Teej, but maybe #2 comes off better in person.  The picture of the back still doesn't do much for me.  FWIW, I like the back better than the front.

ETA:  I went back to view again.  With #2, it's the detailing and the rouching that's throwing me off.  It doesn't read "young" to me.  It strikes me as old ladyish.
  • Re: #2... While I like the idea of some kind of cap sleeve on you, that dress seems to fit inconsistently on the top. Like from the front the straps are loose, which loses the whole structure of it, but from the back they look uncomfortably snug on you. The bodice and way the skirt flounces out is beautiful on you from the back, though.

This is spot on. They just make your shoulders look wider than they should, and it detracts from your waist and bustline, IMO.

  • Thank goodness. She is scary as fuuck from that picture. I figured it was an employee, and the way I had it first phrased was...'what the fuuck is that in the background', but then I was afraid it was your mom or something. lol

  • I like number 7 the best.  But, I actually wasn't going to comment on the dresses, I wanted to tell you I love your new sig photo.

  • I didn't read the responses before I made up my mind, but now that I have I've just determined everyone else has good taste.

#7 a million times over, it's freaking gorgeous and you look uber hot in it (but in a respectful wedding day kind of way).

  • I am totally getting what you are all saying about #2. I will say that it IS much more flattering in person, but the sleeves thing probably holds true regardless. It's quite comfortable, but eff comfort, really. Heh.

I would say probably my next two choices are 3 and 6. I do LOVE 7, but something about it just isn't... I dunno. 7 is the only dress I walked into a store knowing I wanted to try from a picture. Maybe because I saw it pictured in white, and tried it on in ivory, or maybe because it's less WOOOO than some others. It's been a little more slow to grow on me, but I can't deny that it's flattering. Who knew I had a waist under all those hoodies!

  • Maybe #2 is a bit old lady-ish. I do tend to lean toward the outdated. What do you like about it?
Yay for the house. How soon can you move in?

  • jasmineh - It's light, and it's comfortable, and it fits quite well - the pictures really seemed to emphasize the one area that would need to be altered, right across the chest. I like that it's flowy rather than poofy, and that the beading is clear rather than silvery/sparkly. The train is plain but moves so nicely, and it falls in really pretty pleats when bustled. It was just the first dress that I was like "Oh, I feel really good in this!"

It was also in the first store, at the end of a loooong line of other dresses.

  • I think 2 accentuates your waist nicely. Maybe more of a sweetheart neckline?

I think I know what I don't love about 7. The swooshy-ness at the bottom is just NMS. It definitely flatters the waist though.

  • Love 5 and 7.

5 the color is great on you.

    7 just has that something.
  • I really like 4.  2 is kind of cool, but it was ruined when someone said ren-fest.  I don't like 7, but to me it's all the ruffles on it that are making me dislike it.  I keep waiting for you to start singing Carmen in that dress.  I'm not overly fond of 5 or 6.  1 is ok, but only just.  Personally I'd go with 4 for you but you'll look nice in 7 as well :)
  • woooooo house! congrats!

i'm liking #2 more having seen the back of it. i love the way the back of the skirt falls. i also still think #7 with sheer straps would be nice. although i have a hangup about the skirt - it looks like scales. i don't know why so many brides want to look aquatic these days. i do very much like the bodice though.
  • I love love love #7. It's so flattering!!

  • Number two would absolutely have to be seen in person to give it fair judgement.
There is also a LOT to be said for wearing something you truly love on your day.

Other than that, I can't ditto 7 enough.
  • I know I'm late on this, but I have to first off--disagree with  Jill about the strapless, the options you've shown you look great in.

Second off, I like #4 for you. I hope I find dresses that flatter me as well as you have, you did a good job!
  • There was a dress that I tried on and loved in person, but didn't like it in pics.  I couldn't pick it knowing that it didn't photograph well (or that I didn't look good in it) even though I loved how I felt.

  • no wait, i've got it. the perfect solution. it's so obvious. #2, then take the sheer wide straps and move them up to where the beaded straps are. there's your dress. ta da. and if it's not, i'll be sorely disappointed in you.

  • Actually, they did say that the dropped sleeves on 2 can be tacked to the rhinestone straps to make a sort of cap sleeve, jill.
