I'm bothered by this version of the show. I don't know why they needed to branch off and make it for plus sized women. Why can't plus sized women be included in the "regular" SYTTD? Are we really that different from non-plus sized women? I want the same things when searching for my dress - good fit, beautiful dress, feel good about it, right price point, etc. Sooo why do we need to lump all us bigger ladies into one show? I understand the marketing side and expanding to a different market but the whole concept bothers me a bit. Thoughts?

Re: SYTTD: Big Bliss
I hate that spin-off. It pisses me off to no end. Just throw a bigger girl in every episode, it's not that hard.

Personally, I don't see a reason to separate them out. I think the show was probably asked to "diversify" a bit...but it's unfortunate that they do it in this way. As a size 12 to 14...I hate being made to feel "bigger" when larger sizes are not available...I cannot imagine wanting to be on a show that separates you out by size. I certainly wouldn't be signing up to be on the show.
. o O( (Ou! I wanna watch some more SYTTD asap!) )
What a load of crappy crap.
Also, that show is a load of crap, too. Just sayin'.

I agree, I don't think it was necessary to have the full spin off. Why can't they devote episodes to a particular item. For example, plus size brides, same sex brides, older brides, military brides, budget brides (not being a sample sale day)etc. Although I think maybe it does give a bit more realism to the show. I was finding average size girls were looking massive next to the really thin ones that are extremely clipped into their sample dresses, which is completely not realistic and shouldn't be encouraged. Honestly I think they can do a better job at being diverse.

[QUOTE]Ugh, I remember when I was modeling for a bridal show- I had to get fitted at a "fancy" boutique. I'm a size 12/14 and they seriously didn't have any samples in my size. The girls commented that they needed no larger than size 8 models. I'm standing there squeezed into a size 10 and about to bust the seams. Crappy. What a load of crappy crap. Also, that show is a load of crap, too. Just sayin'.

So sorry you had to go through that Jeana. I wish women in this country could get over the "need to be a stick figure" mentality. There are women of all shapes and sizes that are absolutely gorgeous. I would rather see us focus on healthy lifestyles (ie: more veggies and exercise) than worry about what our dress size is! I look back a pics from high school and thing "god I was so beautiful, and I didn't even know it back then." I try to remember that now whenever I don't feel like I look the way I want...
PS: jenjennifer, that episode with red dress girl pissed me off a little.

I remember disliking that episode too... I can't remember why. Actually if I think about it, I can't really pinpoint a person in any episode that I DID like... What does that say??? I'm in it for the dresses ;)
I don't see the need to have the extra spinoff show. To me, it does seem very segregating. I think they should just work on putting women of every shape and size into all of the episodes of the original version.

<div><strong>THIS!</strong></div><div><strong>
</strong></div><div>I am a plus sized women (size 20) and I really like seeing other women my shape and size trying on dresses - it's neat! BUT I don't like that I can't see them in a "regular" episode of SYTTD. At first it made me feel left out - but now they're making me feel segregated which is not cool at all. Just take women of EVERY size and shape and put them in the "regular" show. </div><div>
</div><div>WHY CANT WE ALL JUST SHOP TOGETHER?!?!</div>

Still here and still fabulous!
[QUOTE]My guess is that SYTTD is a money-maker for TLC. In order to have more episodes, they needed to create a spin-off show. The first one was Big Bliss, but stay tuned for Over the Hill, Champagne Tastes/Beer Budgets, and the one I'm most excited for Blondes Have More Fun.

You might as well do a spinoff of "Bridezillas" like that, too. I've seen more immature brides on that show than I have on SYTTD.
I also hate the seperation - there really is no need. It's just another way to make money imo - and it does feel condascending to me. Even if I was thinner I would feel the same way..everyone is unique and deserves to feel special and beautiful no matter what.
Maybe I'm just bitter because I won't be getting my dress at Kleinfeld's.
