WR - OOT bags

Need opinions on the actual bags themselves.  I want them to be re-usable, and easy to pack, so I'm thinking tote bags.  Found these at an awesome price (3rd one down):

  • We did ours in something like that.  I figured everyone can use a reusable shopping bag, right?  If not, they can just get rid of it.

  • It just seems too good to pass up.  Not cardboard junk, and under a buck.  I'd love to have a boating tote with a zipper and handles and such, but I didn't win the lottery.  So.

  • Can you maybe paint a stencil on the front?  Just of a boat or something?  That'd be cute.  :)

  • Boating tote is the one with the gusset in the side and all.  Like the Lands End or LLBean totes that are $35.  I'll probably put the dahlia print on it that we're using for monogram-ish stuff, or something like that.  Depends on how much time I have.  I might do it just as a tag that's tied on so that guests don't have to have a dahlia on the bag forever.  Some of FI's male army friends might not appreciate the flower.

  • Even if they turn out to not be high quality (and to be honest, how could they) - they'll definitely get more use than a plastic bag or cardboard box, and if they're thrown out, well, they got no less use than a plastic bag or cardboard box would have so at the very least, you're coming out even, I say.

  • I couldn't vote because I'm on my BB, but I think they're great! The actual baskets always get left behind in the hotel rooms, we've all gotten to take home a few. What also works is cellophane tied with a pretty ribbon. Of course, those bags are much more environmentally friendly! :)

  • Alright, I like my 100% "Awesome" score on this.  :)  My CC is upstairs, and I'm lazy, so I'll likely order tomorrow.  I'm gonna go to bed for now, but please give me any other input between now and then.

Yay!  I am SO excited to get things like this at least started.

  • I LOVE these! I love having bags like this for the beach, and trips and things. Great find!

I don't think I'd ever use it- I'd probably just throw it away after the wedding.  But hey, if they're cheap, why not.

  • I would reuse the tote as a beach bag, but like others have said, they're so cheap you may as well just go ahead and get them and if people toss them who cares? you didn't spend much on them.
  • Thanks all!  Including shipping, 40 bags were still under $40, which works for me.  Thanks for the input.

  • I'm between "awesome" and "sucks." I personally don't use reusable totes (I know, single-handedly killing the earth) so I'd probably give mine away or leave it behind, or feel guilty and bring it home for it to die a slow death in the back of my closet.

  • I really like the idea. I'd skip painting it if your military guys would freak out about a flower. Just a cute tag would be fine!
