When to buy the wedding rings?

Well we've saved up enough to: reserve the venue, church, and photographer. We even have enough saved up for the rings currently.

We both know which ones we like. The question is, when should we buy them? I know we're still a little over a year out( I'm actually finding myself a little sad I got obsessive about planning and got so much done now we're kinda going lalala with wedding stuff)

Should we wait? The biggest thing that concerns me is if the style for my ring isn't there. Because with the shape of my e-ring(it's a heart) most normal bands don't fit well with my e-ring.

So buy now or wait? And if we wait how long till we get them. Please note we have purchased a fireproof safe that we've been storing all our wedding stuff in. That way if my house is robbed or burns down everything should be a-okay lol

Well being as the fact I've been told I'm crazy for: Having my dress, veil and all that stuff plus invitations ready I didn't want to be making another one of those terrible wedding mistakes where I'm apparently going to regret it in 6 months according basically everyone I speak to.

I guess the more approriate question is: What are the chance I'll change my mind, and when you you get your rings.

I think you should wait. Your mind might change, you might see something else and love it, and the price is not likely to change a huge amount (unless you found like rock bottom discount prices).

Can you post pictures of your e-ring? I can imagine a heart being difficult to fit with a band but I would have a better idea if I saw it.

Edit: If you have everything done but you save the rings it might be a nice thing to look forward to? Having everything done with a year of waiting would not be fun in my opinion.

What is your jeweler's policy on returns? If they have a good return policy, you might not even have to worry about changing your mind. I'm in the "why wait?" camp.

That's the picture from the jewelers website. I don't really have a good quality picture of it. As you can see normal circle bands don't match, there is even too much gapping on the ones that are marked as enhancers that are v-shaped.

Are you the kind of person that changes their mind/style a lot? If so, I would wait. I never change my tastes as an adult so I'm comfortable buying things early. It depends on what you typically are like.

You could go with something similar to mine, which I chose because it kind of dips in at the center to make way for my e-ring. There are a lot of bands out there that have similar shapes.

FI is very sure of what he wants. We are about 7 months out. I think I might buy his ring now because they are $200 cheaper at one site and they are running out of sizes and I don't know if they'll get more.

So, if you are sure what you want, go for it. I am finally sure of what I want and I can't wait to get it!

I just don't think it really matters when you buy it. If you really want it now, I don't see any problem with buying it, but it wouldn't be terrible to wait either. Do you have a picture of the band you picked out? Pretty ring, by the way

I wasn't trying to AW, just wasn't sure from the OP's comments whether she'd totally settled on a band yet. Now that I'm rereading, seems like she has. If you know what you want, OP, go for it. I think we bought our bands about 8 months out because we stumbled across two we finally liked and just decided to get it over with.

Thanks tlv, I love my e-ring everytime I look at it I smile.

The e-ring fits nicely inside. My ring is a 1/4 carat. This one total is 1/5th so it doesn't over power my ring, it's stil really simple and pretty. I wish I had my camera when we were trying them on Sat but I didn't. Even when I do it's hard to get photos of the ring cuz mine are kinda small but I love them.

Ohh I actually really like the band you picked out to go with your e-ring. Opalsky's idea was beautiful as well (and looks nice on it's own without the e-ring), but this way the heart faces out right? I think it's probably worth getting early, unless you want to go custom, which I also think is a good way to go.

I'm four months out and just getting our rings. Wait, or don't wait. Doesn't seem like it should be an issue closer to the wedding.
