Italy or the Caribbean?

Which would you pick? If money wasn't really an object, but you wanted a somewhat relaxing vaction, what would you choose?

  • The Caribbean sounds more relaxing, but I would rather go to Italy.  The country would probably be more relaxing than the traditional touristy cities.

  • I would choose Italy, though I may be biased b/c that's where we went. :-)  IMO, the Caribbean is closer and cheaper, so it's likely that you'd have a better chance of being able to go there later.  If you want the relaxing beach time, you can always spend part of your trip on the Amalfi Coast and/or Capri - both of which are absolutely beautiful.

THIS. Esactly. The caribbean is definitely something I could plan for a trip any year. But going to Italy I definitely couldn't. =]
  • for relaxing definately the caribbean.  i've been to italy 2x and the caribbean tons-15 islands.countries numerous times.
while i find parts of italy super relaxing if you've never been you'll want to explore a lot and, as there's so much to see and do, it might not fit your relaxing criteria.

  • For a relaxing HM...I would go to the Caribbean. I would love to go to Italy, but not on my HM....I didn't want any sightseeing or busy things planned. I wanted my toughest decision of the day to be...beach or pool?

  • Fi and I had this dilemma as well. Somewhere beach-y or Europe? But in the end, we can always plan a trip to the Caribbean, Hawaii or Mexico. But a European vacation? It's not always that easy to plan one like that. So we chose Europe, the bulk of our honeymoon will be in Italia!!! Can't wait! :)
  • We debated this as well.. We wanted to relax, but we both find beaches and resorts incredibly boring.. So we chose 4 nights in Paris and then the rest in a couple of different cities in Italy. We're not really planning on doing a lot of sight seeing though - we're still planning to relax, just in an environment that we like more than the beach. I think Europe could be as relaxing or as busy as you want it to be..

  • Italy!  We also wanted a relaxing honeymoon but we go to the Caribbean every year so that wasn't an option for us.  We started our trip in Rome to get the busy sightseeing done (you only need a couple of days) and then we spent the rest of our time relaxing in Positano and Capri.  It was amazing!
  • Italy can be relaxing if that is what you want from your trip and there are beautiful beaches xhttp://www.italyheaven.co.uk/beaches.html
But it is also the most romantic country in the world with the most incredible food. I am getting married next year and if I was having a honeymoon (unfortunately I am not), out of everywhere in the entire world I would chose Italy... Rome, Venice, Florence, just being there will make you feel so romantic!
  • I love Italy, but just make sure you determine ahead of time you will only do a certain amount of sightseeing. It seems obvious but try to nail it in that you cannot see everything and shouldn't try.
