And betrothed, I'm disgusted with most of the comments that you have posted. I don't think I've ever read such judgmental comments in my life. I'm so lucky that the girls I speak to on theknot are nothing like you...I would've never come on here for ADVICE if I would've encountered a big a bitch as you. I genuinely feel awful for your children or your future children, and I think it would be irresponsible of YOU not to invest in their future therapy sessions starting now. • B and Nebb, I love you both to pieces so I hope this Christmas/birthday argument ends sooner than later and you guys can hug it out. That said, Nebb, it has seemed as though your birthday has been a source of worry for you for some time now, so I can get the whole "take charge of your own happiness" thing that others are saying. I remember you mentioning your birthday concerns in Any's happy birthday thread awhile back, so obviously it's been on your mind for awhile. It sucks that people have glossed over it, and I would hate that, so I hope you can find ways to not let it get you too down at this point in your life.
In Response to Re: I judge : Yeah well tough because a lot of us would be judging them.  You did a great thing... Ironically I just opened an email from the transport we did yesterday to save some shelter dogs and this was the tagline on the lady's email: There is an Indian legend which says : "When a human dies, there is a bridge they must cross to enter into heaven. At the head of this bridge awaits every animal the human encountered during their lifetime... The animals, based upon what they know of this person, decide which humans may cross the bridge...and which are turned away".... Unknown
    Posted by Jelenny
The Bridge of the Dead. It leads into the Spirit World, or the Land of the Dead. Some variations say that the animals a person mistreaded try to knock the person off the bridge as they cross, while those that were loved try to help them pass into the Spirit World.

It's a big part of my book, a legend I grew up hearing so it's always been important to me.
  • Nebb- Sucks that your H is clueless about that.  My BM has a birthday 4 days after Christmas.  Her mother (not dad) is Jehovah's Witness, so every year growing up, she never got either except from my family.  In junior high and high school she'd get $100 and was expected to buy her school clothes from it.  We always try to make up for it.  I hope you have friends and family that can help make up for it.  And here's hoping that you and H have cleared things up enough that next year rocks!

  • Ricksang, I wouldn't have done it, but you obviously care more than I do, and it's great that there are people like you in the world.  I judge people for judging how you spend your money.  It's your business.

Bec, I hear ya on the creamer.  I bring in flavored creamer and get pretty territorial over it.  Can you hide it behind some expired mayo?  That's what I do.  Or buy a rubbermaid bottle to keep it in.  It sucks you have to go out of your way to protect your stuff, though.

I judge BF's fam, my Dad's fam, and my Mom's fam for all wanting to have Christmas on Christmas day, around the same time.  I also have an hour drive between two of them.  Unless someone's getting me a teleporter for Christmas, this isn't going to work.
Oh, I also judge the people who cheated at trivia night at the bar last night. Seriously? It is the honor system. Stop googling on your phone. What is even the point in playing if you are going to do that? Good thing Mike and I kicked their asses anyway.
    Posted by MeaghanandMichael
We had this happen to us, too!! We've been playing trivia weekly and the same team wins every week. I kept telling fiance that I think they're cheating. He told his cousin, who runs the trivia to keep and eye out for them. Sure enough, they got caught googling the answers on their phone! Who does that?

I judge parents who don't feel the need to discipline their children at all.

Im not certain why but I think its just come up more this year because I know more new people (new job, coming up here) and the whole "your birthday sure must suck" thing has come up a lot more than it has in the past. I think MOST christmas birthdays have a bit of a complex over it, because you spend your entire life getting the shaft. Its not a surprise to me and its not something im going to go into a deep depression over, but i think anyone would be hurt if their husband glossed over their birthday just because it fell on a major holiday when you already feel that way. Im sure anyone would be upset if their husband glossed over it, regardless of the day.
  • Wait, I though Tayprince NEEDED to be deleted??

  • I thought you said he got you a present, Nebb? I iz confused.

But yeah, I would definitely be hurt if Mike didn't acknowledge my birthday in some way. My birthday is four days before our anny so separating the two is important to me. I don't really care at all if he gets me a present or not though.

Agreed. I feel bad for anyone who goes through this. And I can see how more people than usual being like "wow your bday is going to suck" might make you think about it more. But those sound like the kind of people who wouldn't be affecting your birthday in a positive way in the first place, so hopefully you can chalk them up to the "don't matter" category.

  • While it's just my two cents, here they are.  Our anniversary, Christmas, and my birthday all fall within a 10 day span.  Each year, we find it difficult to separate the days because  I know there is a lot of pressure for J to find gifts to celebrate each day individually and it begins to feel forced.  Yes, I want a gift on my birthday and I understand where you are coming from, Nebb.  I hope you feel like your husband appreciates you, even if he isn't quite "getting it" about making your birthday a separate entity from Christmas.

Ugh... I'm really not sure what my point is.  I'm incoherent today at best I guess.
