Dj question

Hi ladies,

For those of you having/had a DJ at your reception, did they:

-include lights for the dance floor

-if not did they charge and how much

-what about doing a gobo?

The DJ I was planning on using doesn't include any lighting at all (I don't mean the most high tech, just looking for basic dance floor lights).  Apparently that's extra plus the gobo, so now I am wondering if I could get a better deal with another DJ.

Your help is appreciated! :)

Mine charged extra for lighting, but I don't think it was ALL that much. But yes it was a separate fee then the DJ itself.

I am using Pulse Entertainment, and the package I have includes dance floor lights and up lighting.  I believe a gobo was $250 or $300 extra.

Mine was an extra $100 for the lighting and it was well worth it!

We are using Synergetic Sounds, we booked at an open house and we got a free gobo light.  I think our package includes basic dance floor lighting (colored lights that flash) but nothing fancy.

DJs Available does uplighting, gobo, floor lighting, etc.  Their prices are reasonable so just email them for package info.

I haven't had my wedding yet but we just booked the DiNardo Brothers.  Though they are located in south NJ they travel to Philly and are great.  I've been to a wedding with them before and they are amazing.  The price is also hard to beat for the quality.  Included in the price of the DJ is basic dance floor lighting and they can do a Gobo I think for like $150.  They also work with Synergetic Lighting to provide more advanced lighting.  I didn't know that and actually booked them both seperately!

Thanks ladies. This is interesting...sounds like many of the DJs you are going with are cheaper even with the extras added on. I was looking into Schaffer Sound but we will see now...thanks!!!

I also booked with DJs available. They are popular on the boards, and I booked with them based on that. I am going to get uplighting and maybe a gobo.

Hey. I am using Circle of Sound. Very reasonable, great recommendations...a few of my friends used them. They provide the light projector and you can order/design your own GOBO for like $60.00 on goboman.com.

I'm using Silversound and each DJ comes with their own lighting system.
