using 2 different bakeries?

Is it strange that I'm thinking of using 2 different bakeries for my desserts that night? For my traditional wedding cake I'm thinking of using Spoon Fulla Sugar because they've gotten rave reviews about having the best tasting cake in my local area. Then I'm thinking about using BonBonerie for their cupcakes because I really want to do a cupcake tower next to the wedding cake (this would be the favor for all of the guests-there will be a box at each place setting so that each guest can take a cupcake home with them), plus their cupcakes prices are less expensive that Spoon Fulla Sugar. Just wondering if that is strange or silly to use 2 different places??

    I think it would be a lot easier to use only one place, just to have one less vendor to coordinate with  and pay.  Otherwise though, I guess it's fine.  Be sure to check their contracts though because I've heard that some bakers contract that you will use only them for any baking related to this event, or something.

    Ditto PP. My baker has a clause in the contract that I can only use them...can't even have home made baked goods.

    Check with the bakeries.  Most have a section in their contract that says they will be the sole provider for baked goods.  This is to protect their reputation and insurance liability issues (in the event of food poisoning).

    PP said to check if it's ok first, and that's a good point. I know my baker doesn't care, as she is a friend of my sister's. So we are getting our wedding cake from her, and our groom's cake is coming from his favourite bakery. I honestly don't think it is strange, if it is allowed.

    I was MOH in a wedding last summer where they used one bakery for the bride's cake and a different baker for the groom's cake. The bride later told me that decision was the worst she could've made because it was so confusing!

    I ordered a cake and cupcake tower from one bakery and the grooms cake from another that specializes in custom cakes.  I think its fine.  I'm having a small wedding though and don't have lots to coordinate/worry about.
