Re: last name

  • Thanks so much for the responses!!

I'm not 100% sure where to go with this decision, and you ladies have given me food for thought AND taught me a thing or two!

  • i am keeping mine. my grandpa was an amazing man i dont want to loose that connection with him. my fiance is amazing and wants me to take his last name but i just can't
  • I'm going to take his name, even though my very drunk cousin threated my FI telling him if I changed my last name she'd kill him.... Undecided
    Yay! for drunk family members.

  • We're both keeping ours -- I'm on the other side of the surprised fence -- I hadn't realized how many women still changed theirs in this day and age.  I've known couples that double-barreled both, hyphenated both, merged syllables (you have to get lucky with the raw ingredients for that to work), picked a completely new game together, took her name, took his name (and same-sex marriages that took one partner's name), kept their own, etc.
  • The original reason was you had your father's last name because you were his "property" .  You then were handed over to your new owner (husband) and assumed his name.  Disgusting, I know!
