Snarky Brides

Sooooo.....

Stinkbutt started kindergarten today. I thought I would be fine, but I had to hold back the tears all the way through. Ben, on the other hand, was Mr. Social and introduced him to everyone he saw. His teacher is just the sweetest lady in the world. I can't believe I have a kindergartner.

I tried to take pictures of him this morning, but he wouldn't let me get a good one with his book bag on with his lunchbox. I finally got a few in the classroom, but he made me promise "not to put them on the internet". He's so weird.

I'm taking most of the day off (I have to go in for a meeting at 1:00), but I really just can't wait to pick him up and hear all about his day and his new friends.

Yay for Ben!

How are you beautiful bitches doing today?

  • My mom was a wreck for both my brother and I's first day, so kudos to you for being able to hold back the tears. We were unsuccessful in stopping the pictures though.

I still remember my kindergarden teacher. She was awesome. I kind of miss her. Oddly enough, my brother ended up getting her 6 years later as well.

This made me LOL. Ben sounds like such a great kid. I'm sure he's going to make LOTS of friends <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-smile.gif" border="0" alt="Smile" title="Smile" />

  • Aww.  Kindergarten is such a big step, Cew (more for you than Ben).  That's so funny that he told you not to put pics on the internet - he's so cute.  I'm sure he will have LOTS to tell you after school today.  Go, Ben!

  • Awww!  Congrats and go Ben!  That's so funny about his pic, lol.

Apparently I told my mom after my first day of school (I think it was 1st grade, though) that I wasn't going back.  My mom said that I was sooo excited leading up to it and that the first day was all business stuff and nothing too fun, so I told her that I was done with school, lol.

  • YAY for Ben!!  YAY for CEW!! I have some friends that were a hot mess when their kiddos started school, so high five for not embarassing him with mommy tears and sobbing :)

I hope we get an update this afternoon of how his day went.

  • There were a few kids in there crying. I felt so bad for them, but it just made me really thankful that Ben is so outgoing. He couldn't have cared less about me being there, he was just so excited to see all of the new people.

He also went to both of his teachers and said "hi, Mrs. Soandso!" I was really proud of them for remembering their names.
  • Aww. That's awesome. I hope he has a good day and tells you a lot of funny stories later.

I always imagined that when I had kids and I send them off for their first day of school I totally wouldn't cry. But every year older I get, I think just the opoosite.

Canada and all those of Canadian descent wish Ben a super happy first day of school.

Ha! I love that you remembered that story.
  • The first day of middle school was much harder for me than the first day of kindergarten, btw.  All those kids looked so old, and my baby looked so vulnerable.  But it all worked out fine.

I'm sure  Ben has already made friends with everyone in the entire school.

  • Andy's starting, too - I don't know what their first day of school is, but I know after a week at Poppa and Ganny's house, and baseball games lasting until midnight, being spoiled by his favorite aunt and uncle, mom and dad had their hands full getting him back into a routine.

  • Doing well in school is all about what you put into it. It sounds like Ben is off to a great, enthusiastic start. HIs teachers will thank you.

  • Yuck. I know. When he started at daycare, we both got pink eye twice, hand foot and mouth disease, and countless colds. I'm sort of hoping that built his immune system up for the kid germ thing.

As a teacher, I'd say to expect this year to be the worst.  Any time I moved buildings in my district, the first year was the hardest on my immune system.

  • Aw.  Hugs and sympathy to Mom.  When my oldest started kindergarten I sobbed; he was excited and happy and great.  It's a terrific adventure - congrats to Ben on entering into the big wide world of education!

I'm back to work today.  After two days of having 4 kids in the house, I am giving mad props to my Mom, who stayed at home as much as she could with 8 children.
