I have worn glasses since I was in 3rd grade. No biggie, I'm used to it. I'm used to the annual eye exams and everything. Been wearing contacts since I turned 13, up until about a year and a half ago when my eyes starting hurting and stayed bright red for several days after wearing them. (I have only slept in my contacts a few times, and that was when I first started wearing them.)
So at this last eye appointment I brought that up to my new eye dr and she said she thinks I might be allergic to silicone. (Awesome.) Most contacts are made of a silicone hydrogel blend, apparently. So she had to special order trial contacts for me because my prescription is so high, there are only two brands that make non-silicone contacts for my level. So I had to set up a follow up appointment. No worries.
I went to get an updated glasses prescription as well, the place she is affiliated with (PearleVision) said it would take over a week, probably, to get my glasses in. That's not happy. So I went to LensCrafters (both in the same mall) and they said 3-5 days. Perfect! Picked out a frame I liked, and handed over my card. I was up at the mall the week after my appointment, and figured I'd stop by, just to see if my glasses were in (appointment was on the 26th. This was on Fri, the 1st.) They said, "no, but they should be in by the 5th." Okay, great. thanks!
I called them yesterday because I didn't get a call on the 5th. Apparently they got my glasses 3 days ago but had to send them back because they were the wrong prescription. How do you screw that up????? It was a PRINTED sheet of paper, not doctor scribbles! So now instead of 3-5 days, it's ending up at like 16 days. Maybe they'll give me a discount on contacts... Sigh. I just want my glasses.
