J Crew bridemaid dresses

Ok I think I found the bridesmaids dress like and l want to see it with BP this weekend or next. I know the bridal store in NYC has the dress but I will have to call the Paramus or Hackensack store to see if they do. They probably won't knowing my luck :) With my girls coming from all over North Jersey I was hoping to meet at centralized location.

Has anyone done any bridesmaid shopping at either of those stores?

I got my bridesmaid's dresses through JCrew.  If the Jcrew dress you are looking at is part of their bridal line, you have to go to one of their Bridal Stores.   The catch is you can walk in and "look" at the dresses, but if you want to try anything on you need to schedule an appt.  They book up quickly on weekends (they were about 1 month out in booking when I had called) so you may want to call in advance.  In the end, we skipped the "trying on" and just ordered them on online and did a few returns until everyone found the right sizes (free return & shipping).

My bridesmaids wore J.Crew, so I'll be happy to help! The stores you mentioned will NOT have any Weddings and Parties dresses. Short Hills used to have the W&P fabric swatches,  and I think a few dresses, but I don't see them listed as a "wedding store" anymore. Of course, your best option is to make an appointment for the  W&P store on Madison Ave., but I doubt they'd have an opening on such short notice. We went a year ago - contrary to the previous post, you can't even look at the dresses (let alone try them on) without an appointment. Ordering and returning what doesn't work to a J.Crew store (any store!) is probably the most convenient option.

Thanks to both of you for the help. I will call more to see if and when I can get an appointment.

Like pps said...... I tried to make an appt at Short Hills last spring, and they told me they no longer carry the wedding line in regular stores. So I went into NYC and they had a great selection. I was able to look at dresses and try one on, but it was midweek at 11am. GL!

Hey there! We are getting bridesmaids dresses from JCrew too... just something to add... You can call the wedding store in NYC on Madison Ave and ask for swatches of the fabrics that you like.  They will send you up to 5 free of charge and after that you will have to pay.  That really helped me to make some decisions before we could actually get an appt (and our first one was canceled due to the hurricane so we just went last weekend).  The store is beautiful and the girls that work there are so nice.  Totally worth the trip!

For my friends wedding, her MOH went to the store on Madison to try dresses on and picked out the one she liked the best and told us about it.  Since we were allowed to pick the style that fit our personal preference, all we were told was to order the specific color in tafeta fabric.  I would up ordering 6 dresses of different styles and sizes, and just returned the ones I didn't want to my local J. Crew store.  Ironically, 5 out of 6 bridesmaids wound up picking the same dress that the MOH picked out.  Highly recomend the Selma dress if you're doing short dresses!

How long did it take for your BM dresses to come in from Jcrew? Just wondering as the earliest weekend appointment was a month out which would only leave my BMs 5 and half months to get the dresses and have them altered.

The dresses are ordered online... so they only take a few days to come in.  Just like any other online order.  The dresses are made really well too, so any tailoring that has to be done will most likely not take very long either.  And I agree with Agu101.... one of our styles is the Selma dress and it is awesome.  Very flattering.

The only thing that J Crew does warn you about is that some of their colors may change with the seasons.  But if you call and tell them your concerns they will be able to answer questions about specific styles and colors.
