Mmm, my fiance would love tiramisu!

Each of our four layers will be different. All will be covered on the outside with buttercream frosting.

Chocolate Strawberry Swirl with Strawberry Mousse
Red Velvet with Bavarian Cream
Lemon with Raspberry Coulis
Carrot Cake with Cream Cheese Icing.

Mm tiramisu is soo delicious! We were deciding between that and a berry mousse cake. We went with the berry mousse just because we thought it would go over better with our crowd. This is our design:

"Judging a person does not define who they are. It defines who you are."
• This is our cake. It will have 2 layers:

-red velvet
-coconut creme

I went to the tasting thinking white cake, buttercream icing, and icing as the filling between layers.

We chose white chocolate cake, lemon filling on the largest layer, apricot on the other two, and cream cheese icing. Probably something I never would have dreamed of putting together, but it was amazing!

On a similar note - you ladies that are having different layers - how are you letting the guests know what options there are? Just having the servers mention it?
• Amanda: I LOVE that cake design!!

and YUM - tiramisu sounds so delicious!!! I am just not sure if tiramisu would work, because the frosting/coating on tiramisu is not a traditional frosting, and according to my baker/pastry chef, there are only certain types of frosting/fondent/etc. that work for wedding cakes. If you did tiramisu on the inside, you might have to do a fondent layer or a regular buttercream frosting on the outside rather than the normal cream that comes on tiramisu?? I am not a pastry chef though, I would just make sure to ask your baker about that!!

We are having three different layers:

Devil's Food Chocolate Cake with Chocolate Ganache Filling and Vanilla buttercream frosting
Coconut Cream Cake with Passion Fruit Curd Filling and vanilla buttercream frosting (seriously, this layer is the best cake I have ever had in my LIFE, and I have had a lot of cake)
Almond Paste Cake with Caramel Pecan Ganache Filling and vanilla buttercream frosting

We are still undecided on our design....since our pastry chef is a personal friend of ours she is really flexible and we are allowed to change our mind on things up until the week of the wedding :) it's a blessing and a curse, really!
• ......... I honestly can't remember. I THINK we got a layered chocolate and vanilla cake with a chocolate fudge frosting in the middle, but I'm not sure if that's exactly what we decided on.

It came with our reception package and it really wasn't important to us. Hopefully it tastes good haha

• Don't have a pic, but ours will have 3 layers, all with buttercream frosting:

bottom: almond cake with chocolate mousse filling
middle: lemon cake with fresh strawberry filling
top: almond cake with chocolate/kahlua filling

And, we've decided to have our top layer when we get back from our honeymoon, and have our cake baker create a small replica each year for our anniversary. Tradition, smradition... :)

• Our cake alternates layers between white cake (my favorite I know it's boring) and double chocolate. The white layers are filled with buttercream and the double chocolate is filled withchocolate mouse. The whole cake is frosted with buttercream.

• They all sound so delicious...I havent even picked out a "cake" that I love yet...my theme is ivory/dark purple...I kind of am liking the multi layered cakes, that's pretty cool - - but do you tell people there are different flavors or do you just pass it out and people get what they get and they dont get upset?! lol

I just asked this question to my reception event manager. She said that the wedding party will get to choose which type of cake they want, and then they will offer each option at all of the guest tables. However the choices will be more limited once they get to the last few tables. I'm sure guests won't mind too much about getting one flavor over another.

At the weddings I have been to where they have different flavors for the different layers of cake the wait staff serving the cake just comes around with the different flavors and asks the guests which they would like. That is what the wait staff will do at our wedding as well.

• Rachael - our colors are really similar!! We are doing ivory, slate grey/silver, lavender, and some shades of darker purples!

I have some really pretty cakes themed to our color scheme (at least kind of) on my pinterest page, if you want to check them out. I have a disgusting amount of wedding cakes that I have pinned throughout the past year, hahaha.

ditto arunkumar on the way that flavors are passed out. Our wedding planner said that some couples will have a "buffet" station set up with different cake flavors so people can just walk up adn grab the flavor they want, but with this, you risk some people missing out and other people taking more than one slice. We will just have servers take big trays of slices of cake around and offer guests different flavors. If a flavor runs out....so bad, so sad, people will get over it - all of our flavors will all be yummy!!!
• My cake pic is in my siggy. We went with a chocolate fudge top layer, pudding chiffon middle layer, and strawberry parfait bottom layer.

• I'm doing cupcakes. There are three favors: chocolate with vanilla buttercream, yellow cake with chocolate buttercream, and red velvet with vanilla buttercream. Then there is a topper for FI and I to cut. It is chocolate cake with raspberry filling and vanilla buttercream. So yummy! I swear I could live on the raspberry filling!

• We are having cupcakes in three flavors and cannolis. I think the flavors are mint chocolate, red velvet, and strawberry shortcake. The small cake for us to cut into is also strawberry shortcake I think?

I really think its just the manufacturers and not the bridal store, however, my sister is getting a different dress than the BM and the store ordered her the wrong dress...thankfully it's a really nice dress and I think I like it more than the original but, still! Here are mine...but the colors are different:

• We ended up with chocolate cake raspberry filling
Daisypath Anniversary tickers
• Our cake is similar to Amanda's, only we combined the Rose Garlands and Ribbons & Bows styles with the Swiss Dot style, and we're having cascading fresh roses down the sides in addition to on the top. It's hard to explain but is somewhat simple, just with lots of real flowers. It will be all white except for the flowers which will be light pinks and peaches and ivories.

Flavor is literally the most delicious thing I've ever had to eat in my whole life:

Chocolate Fudge Cake

Chocolate Fudge Cake, Brushed with Kahlua

Upgraded Filling: Chocolate Mousse
Wedding Countdown Ticker
• Ours is going to be white buttermilk cake with buttermilk icing and a white chocolate mousse/raspberry filling

It will look just like this, but with different flowers (probably pink and peach roses)

• I want cake for lunch AND for dinner.
• Carrot cake with buttercream icing (I'm not a fan of fondant). We are having some other desserts too, so hopefully if anyone is not a fan of carrot cake, they will be happy with the other options.

• We are having a buttercream cake with buttercream flowers cascading down the side. The flowers will be white and pink :) We are having a combo of vanilla and chocolate cake with alternating layers of cannoli cream and chocolate ganache. We are actually doing the same flavor for each tier b/c those were our two favorites and thought they went well together! The venue is also going to serve the cake with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a chocolate dipped strawberry.

Boo we don't get a tasting. And there aren't cream or icing options. Double boo. I think we've decided to go for chocolate cake and almond amaretto cake.
• I'm sitting here eating my very healthy lunch and now craving cake SO badly! YUM!!

We're not doing cake. We're having an ice cream truck come to the reception and each guest will get to choose their ice cream treat. I LOVE cake!! But a big fancy cake just didn't fit well with our casual picnic theme.
