Evening Thread/WFD?

Re: Evening Thread/WFD?

  • edited March 2012
I would love to go back to school, and I've been planning to every fall.

My current problem is that my FI is pretty concerned about how I will contribute towards the mortgage, especially if for whatever reason I can't qualify for student loans.

ETA: I would most likely keep the job I have until my school program was done, but that doesn't seem that feasible either considering my current job would have to know that I wasn't staying long term, and would probably let me go.
How does one not know how to make a grilled cheese? I could make those when I was like 9 lol

Growing up when my mom was out of town and we told my dad we wanted grilled cheese he'd tell us to just make toast and then put a slice of cheese in between after and microwave it if it wasn't melted enough. That makes for really sucky grilled cheese, let me tell you.
Musu, so you guys do long distance right now? I didn't know that.  At least you get to see him! :) And good luck on your itnerview! When is it?
    Posted by chelseamb11
Yeah, we've actually been kind of a LDR for most of our dating & now married relationship. We've always been at least 45 min in distance or more apart, since we started dating. The only exception was last fall when he took a semester of classes here in the cities, and this past summer when we were both just working. Normally he is a 2.5 hr drive north of me and comes home on the weekends. This summer will be another summer of living together full time, and then he graduates in the fall so FINALLY we will be together all the time forever after that. :)

Thanks for the GL, I am really hoping I get it! The interview isn't for another week, but I'm trying to prep myself a lot because I haven't interviewed for a job since 2006.

  • Dodgers, I'm jealous you get to pick out your own office furniture.

KD, you should have just had your H watch Benny & Joon instead of getting up to show him out to make a grilled cheese.  :)

Yes! It's just not something he would eat, so he's never made it.

  • Haha Girlie, I love that movie. I kinda want to make mashed potatoes with a tennis racket. My H had never seen that before he met me, and now he loves it. My BIL was there in Spokane when they filmed the scene where Johnny Depp performed in the park.

Lol well my parents had me babysitting my brothers when I was like 10, and I wasn't allowed to use the stove if they were gone.. so that is literally what I'd do. Microwaved/toasted grilled cheese /> no grilled cheese at all.

Oh ok, that makes sense. I do know that financial aid only takes into consideration the income made from you (and your fiance once you are married) and not your parents, after you turn 24 or you are married. So that might help in regards to getting financial aid. That is for undergrad degrees, anyway. Grad school they never consider parental income. That helped me a ton once I started filling my FAFSA out for law school.

I am happy they are letting me get something. Now I just hope they approve the one I like. The desk I have now is a pieced together one and it is beat up. CW before didn't have anything organized so I am left to put everything together. I spent almost all day Friday cleaning and throwing old crap away.

  • pirate - I have osteoporosis!! :-O            just kidding. If it doesn't go away soon, then I'll take some time off running to rest it.

Chels - I also started babysitting when I was 10, and I wasn't allowed to use the stove either. I tried making ramen in the microwave, and it was nasty and mushy. Bleh.

  • I save my grilled cheeses for Friday's now until Easter. I think I might try to make tomato soup to go along with them. Has anyone seen the picture I think it is on pinterest. It is of a toaster on its side with a piece of bread in each slot with cheese on both? I think it says something along the lines of easy grilled cheese.
  • It's a sweet (as in awww -  not Dude, those rims are sweet) movie KD, you should check it out.  If it makes you feel any better, I've never seen Gone With the Wind, Terms of Endearment, any of the Alien/Terminator/Rambo/Godfather movies.

  • I've never seen Terms of Endearment either. I used to get it confused with Steel Magnolias, and was adamant that I had seen it, but I never have. I get stuff confused for each other quite frequently, actually. For the longest time, I thought Ving Rhames and Michael Clarke Duncan were the same actor.

  • All I want to do is watch all the shows that are built up on my DVR.  Maybe I should blow off schoolwork tonight and just do it tomorrow night.

This is totally justifiable, right?  It's only a chapter for Friday + 11 pages for Thursday.  I can do those tomorrow night.
