Re: any thoughts on this tree draping? We're getting married in our backyard garden

I mean this in the least mean/b!tchy way possible... if its done right, it's beautiful, if it's not done right it could look like sheets hanging on a laundry line.  Just my honest opinion.

I have only seen it done well on blogs.  However I can totally see what MH is saying.  I think you should practice or get a pro to do it for you.

I love the drapery and the vintage feel to that wedding. I also love the look of paper lanterns for outdoor weddings. I think her dress was featured on SYTTD!

The example you posted is lovely, but I agree with PP, if it's not done correctly and with the right material, it could look bad. Get a few material samples and try it out. See how it comes out when you do it.

Yes! I hear that. I've ordered a few samples of light burlap  by mail to check texture/feel. Having mom do the draping/sewingt since she's been a seamstress for YEARS.. our trees in the yard are very similar, but you're all right, the "laying" of it will be crucial. Wedding is Sat. Oct. 2 -- We'll try this out on Thursday!
