This is just pinned up and not the finished product, but I love it. Actually thinking of just wearing it up the whole time. I never really cared about having a train to begin with. My mother thinks that I need to walk down the aisle with a flowing train. I think it will get in the way.
Here is the front again. Nothing has changed other than it has gotten a lot tighter.

I'm not sure about how I feel on trains, I always have that fear of it getting stepped on and tubling to the ground.

The seamstress had it pinned in no time. I guess if you know what you are doing its easy. I wouldn't have the slightest idea! Or did you mean tie up once it is done? They aren't hard to tie up to give it the bustled look. The bustle strings will be color coded so it will be easy to know what string goes with what.

I kind of feel the same way. Our cocktail hour is going to be right next to where the ceremony is, so it will be starting immediately. I don't want to be standing off to the side for like 5-10 minutes waiting for my dress to get bustled up. Plus we will be walking to a table to do the sand pouring so I don't want it getting all hung up in that process either.

There are a few different types of bustles, but as I stated above, mine will have color coded strings underneath the dress. Those get tied together. There will be a few ties. Once those get tied up that is what creates the bustle.

And this may seem petty and selfish (but it bolsters your argument for bustling your dress, so if you want to use it against your mom, feel free), but as someone who was just MOH in a wedding where the bride wore a dress with a super long train that had 11 bustle points, bustle it before.
1) When you're walking around doing unity ceremony, etc., your MOH is supposed to keep your train straight. PITA if she already has her hands full with her bouquet and yours; I ended up looking around like a frantic puppy to the other two BMs so they would hold the bouquets and I could straighten the train.
2) We were 20 minutes late to the reception because of bustling her train. And that's AFTER we decided to just do it in the church after everyone left. So here' the bride with her dress flipped up over her head and me and her MIL crouching behind her tying furiously and trying to find the right numbers...it was a mess.

I am having flower petals down both sides of the aisle runner, so I just picture the train acting like a broom and me ending up with a pile of flower petals underneath my dress. Porbably not likely, but it kind of makes me laugh thinking of it.
The being late to the reception wasn't that bad (it was a dry reception and the buffet didn't open til we got there anyway), except that the bride freaked out and started sceaming at everyone to get into order for the announcements as soon as she walked through the door. It was a tad Bridezilla, especially since it was her bustle that made us late in the first place. The most annoying part for me as MOH was trying to keep her dress looking good for pictures while she walked all over creation during the ceremony and I was toting a bouquet in either hand.

Ditto. The last wedding I went to the bride was annoyed with her train the entire night because the bustle didn't work out.
One of my friends ended up tucking the end of the train into the back of her dress by the end of the night because the bustle didn't work out.

Note to self: add safety pins to shopping list.
My friend's dress had I think 11 hidden hooks and tiny strings. It was the first time I'd seen a bustle system, and we had a really hard time finding enough of them to securely hold up the dress. This was with three BMs frantically looking!
