Wedding Dress Prep

Hi!!!

I picked up my wedding dress yesterday from the salon, but my wedding isn't until July 31st.  They told me to lay my dress out on a bed somewhere and put a sheet over it until I'm ready to transport it to the ceremony site.  I have never heard that before.  It is a strapless dress and is heavy, but will it hurt the dress if I just hang it and let the train and bottom of  the dress out of the bag?

    Your dress will probably be just fine hung up--even if it is heavy, it usually takes a matter of months for a dress to stretch out. However, I wouldn't hang the train out of the bag. You just never know what could happen: water damage, dust, an inadvertent spill, and so on. Leave it neatly tucked in the bag, and then have it steamed right before the wedding. Even if you hung the train outside the bag, it would probably still need some steaming, so don't think of this as an added expense.
