Hey , I'm so sorry you r going thru this. Not seeing you on mother's day bc mother in law more important. Nonsense . Sounds like the gf is a chip off old block of mom. Sounds like sons gf is a well....brat. idk best advice other than talk to your soon about how you'd like to be with him more , or make plans to take walks, lunches , etc things that don't break the bank. Invite son and gf or if gf doesn't come just son. Start to do all you can to make effort to be with son away from this so he can make sure it's what he wants . You are his mother , you deserve to be held high

I'm Robin and my fiance and I are getting married April 6th, 2012. He proposed on valentines day. It was sweet, I was asleep with our daughter and he came in quietly and woke me up to ask if i would marry him. It doesn't sound like much, but it was. I'm so excited to start planning and can use any and all the help I can get.
Thanx for reading guys
Robin

Hi Austin Knotties! My name is Jenny and I'm excited to be planning my wedding with you ladies.
One of our biggest decisions for the wedding was inspired by our first date – we got to know one another over dinner, but fell in love over a glass of wine, under the stars, in the middle of nowhere, talking about our bucket list of journeys and travel destinations. I kept coming back to that every time we visited a new venue and tried to visualize our wedding. Then we found Driftwood Vineyards – with a totally unassuming, open air pavilion that just happens to look out into the most gorgeous, rolling Texas hills covered in grape vines. And since it’s in the middle of nowhere, as soon as the sun goes down, you can see every star in the sky. That was it for us! We’re working to build the rest of the wedding around this beautiful space and all the things we love about our life, our roots and our family and friends. Oh, and did I mention we’re on a super strict budget?? Yeah, that’s been fun…
Date: March 24, 2012 – two years to the day from our first date
Venue: Driftwood Estate Winery
Photographers: A L Collective – highly recommend… they’ve been so amazing to work with thus far
Day of Coordinator: Kristi with Joyful Details – just started the business and is super sweet
Officiant: Pastor John
Colors: Neutrals, highlighted with peachy terra cotta and buttery, pale yellow.
All stationary: Twig & Lily – highly recommend! Local Austin vendor who uses 100% recycled materials and is very reasonable! Every idea she has sent us just blows us away.
Rehearsal Dinner: Casa Chapala
Wedding dress: Monique Luo
Suits: Jos A Bank
Welcome bags (destination wedding for everyone but the bride and groom!): Me, with lots of help from local vendors and Sam’s
Transportation: Grayline Buses
DJ: Tim with Austin Party Machine
Caterer: Carino's Italian Grill - awesome prices
Flowers: Wendee with Unexpected Elements - such a cool freakin girl, AND she's a preferred vendor on Style Me Pretty!
And the TBDs… would love any recommendations!!
Cake
Decorations/Linens
Hair (doing my own make-up)
Thanks ladies! Can’t wait to read about all of your plans!
I am Anna-Klara! I am getting married in December 2011. I am Dutch and he's American, so we are throwing a party in The Netherlands AND in Austin, Texas. We live in The NL, so all the wedding planning will have to happen from a distance... I am looking for a good photographer right now in Austin, do any of you have any tips? Your help is much appreciated!
Good luck with all your planning!
Anna-Klara
We want to have a different, hip, urban venue. I am going to explore The Belmont, The Palm Door, Speak Easy and Six Lounge.
Vendors so far
Venue and food- Winfield Inn
DJ- DJ Madness
Still need flowers and cake
Ceremony: St. David's Episcopal Church
Reception: Four Seasons (includes food, cake and linens)
Room blocks: Four Seasons, The Raddison and the Hampton Inn Suites
DJ: David Hexum
Still working on the flowers and photography. Any good suggestions?
Also, I have one small concern about the Four Seasons...has anyone had their reception in the smaller San Jacinto ballroom? We are only having 150 guests so the larger ballroom is too big, but I don't want our wedding to be outshone by the wedding next door.
Finally, the weekend we are getting married is also the weekend of UT graduation...ugh! BUT, we have blocked a bunch of rooms at various hotels at different price points. Can anyone anticipate additional problems this weekend might present?
Thanks so much...I love this wedding board! You girls are soooo helpful!

Honeymoon: definitely Europe, probably Italy or Spain
I just wanted to introduce myself.
We are renewing our vows! A very exciting time for us. Our first wedding was a crash. I wouldn't have even really consider it a wedding so much.We got married through a judge. I didn't have my family there. My In-laws alienated themselves from our small gathering. I even served my own cake! It was a sad day. Now that we are renewing our vows I can start planning the wedding I couldn't have. So I'm on cloud 9 right now.
Our wedding is a long time from now. April 05,2014. But it gives me lots of time to plan what I want and get ideas. We plan to get married at our church and have our reception at the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum. So loving it!
My name is Laura, and my DH and I were married on April 1, 2011 (very appropriate for us because we are a couple of goof-balls) I graduated from TxState in 2008, and absolutely love the Central TX area!! Here are a few of the details from our wedding:
Venue/Reception/Catering: The Winfield Inn, Kyle, TX
DJ: DJ RJ with Music4Life DJ's, Austin, TX
Photographer: Amanda Hagood with WhitneyLee Photography, Austin, TX
Cake: Michelle's Patisserie, Austin, TX
Flowers: Bouquets of Austin, Austin, TX
Colors: Black with lavender and sage
Invitations: 123print.com
We haven't gone on a real honeymoon yet, but we stayed a few nights at the Mansion on Judges Hill. It was absolutely perfect because it was so easy to just relax and not have to worry about traveling after the hoopla of the wedding. The resturaunt there is fabulous!
I had great experiences with all my vendors, and highly recommend them to anyone. Happy wedding planning, y'all!
"...And he just came out of my imaginary birthday cake." -its apelila
I've not formally introduced myself here yet, sooo here goes
My name is Carol, I'm from Wisconsin. My FIs name is Gordon, he is a native to Texas-born and raised (adopted) in El Paso and has lived in Austin since he got out of the Military.
We got engaged in May 2011 and our first wedding, small church wedding, will be 8 October 2011. Our second one, the BIG one, will be November 2012 at the Texas Ren Fest. We are doing the small ceremony now because my Mother is dying of cancer and we wanted to see that her daughter is happy. (this is the 2nd marraige for both of us)

Hello Knotties,
My fiancé and I are getting married next spring. Tentatively, we are looking at May 12th. We are in the very early stages of planning and are definitely having a budget wedding. Since my parents are older retirement age and my FI’s parents have 7 adopted children under the age of 10, we will likely have a pretty casual wedding we will likely pay for 90% of it ourselves.
We will probably get married in Waco, unless we can find something we like at a reasonable price in Austin. We’ve found a reception hall in Waco that’s pretty reasonable, but haven’t had as good of luck in Austin (seems everything is much, much more expensive here). Waco is the front runner for the moment for several reasons. It would be nice to spend my last night as a single gal in the house I grew up in and a lot of our family and friends are either from there or still live there. And it’s not too bad of a drive for the Austinites.
If we do choose Waco, I will probably do bridal portrait in front of the historic Suspension Bridge and assuming we don’t find a church and the weather cooperates we could get married there too. (My 3-great grandmother walked across in the 1800s with her children to settle just west of the Brazos River).
We are looking forward to some great planning ideas, advice and meeting some new folks.
Best Wishes,
Jackie & Gabe
