DIY Hair & Makeup

Has anyone out there tried doing their own hair and makeup for their wedding?  Just curious.  I think I will end up having my hair done because I don't feel too confident about doing a good job, especially on THE DAY.  Still debating about makeup.  I want a natural look and have pretty good skin, so believe I can take care of it with barely any makeup. Any thoughts are appreciated!

    I think I'm going to get my hair done, because that's something that I could easily screw up, and I just want it to look beautiful and be out of my way! But I really think I'm going to do my own makeup on the big day. I would suggest checking out lisaeldridge.com for some tips--she has a couple of great bridal makeup tutorials, and one specifically for hot and humid destinations (hello, New Orleans in June).      I'm planning to do the same, just hair but only need my own done. I only have a maid of honor who keeps hers long and isnt interested in an updo. This is my target week to start looking into someplace and make calls. I'm assuming it woulkd be cheaper to go to someone day of instead of having them come to me. I'm curious if anyone who's done that felt it went smooth, maybe it was more fun?? or do you regret not paying the extra and staying put in your hotel. I'm sure once I know the price difference that will help with my decision too. Any tips would be great.
