Nyack Seaport review

Has anyone been here for a wedding or had their wedding there?

Heard anything about their food?

I spoke to the owner on the phone last night and the pics look good but I would like to get an idea from people who have been there.

Thanks!

I checked it out when I was looking for venues. I liked it and the owner seemed nice, but I really wanted an outdoor ceremony option and a little bit more room for my guests.  Also, it wasn't too handicap friendly and we have elderly grandparents to think of. I did like that it was a family business and when we went after Christmas, the entrance was decorated beautifully!

For similar pricing, we went with View on the Hudson. For me it was really a space and ceremony issue, so if you have around 100 or so guests and a church ceremony, it could be the place for you! :)

Good luck & let us know what you decide!

I actually went to a wedding there this weekend!! It was beautifully done.  Although they do not have any outdoor space, there is a nice park 1 block away where you can do pictures and get some nice river shots.  The cocktail hours was great, first course and salad were great, entree was ok, and dessert was very good. The only think I didn't really like was having the the ceremony in the same room as the reception.  The staff was great and overall it was a really great night!! GL!!

Unfortunately, I'm having my wedding there on July 31 of this year so the only thing i can tell you is that so far dealing with the owner and his daughter, the restuarant manager has been fairly simple.  My future MIL has been there recently on several events, to inlude a wedding, and she said they were all great.  I have to note, that she tried to discourage us from having our wedding there in the beginning because she didn't like the food at past events, but her recent experiences has changed her mind.  We looked at two other places in the area, The View and Hotel Thayer in West Point and we both chose the Nyack Seaport, hands down.  Go see The Nyack Seaport and taste the food before you make a decision.

one more thing, we went for a tasting with my future sister and brother in-law, both lawyers with discriminating, honest opinions....we all loved the food.  you should note that they were having a wedding at the same time of our tasting, so the food we tasted was actual wedding food, not from the restaurant, which to me was very important.

    thanks guys!

The food and having an outside ceremony on site is important to me b/c we have family coming from all over and I personally just don't lie the idea of everyone coming from everywhere to be at the ceremony for a half hr and then travel again (even if it's by shuttle) to another place.

I live in upstate NY currently but my brother and sister in law live in west nyack so i'm going to have them check it out for me this week  in person knowing my taste but not having a separate ceremony option or outside option is a bummer for us.

I looked at the view but their starting price was $120/pp i believe. We are looking for something well under $100/pp so that wasn't an option for us.
    thanks!

Try Colonial Inn. Great place and great price!
