Re: Swine flu shot people

  • Yeah, one of my BFFs is actually going to be working with me, too, so that will definitely help. Most of all, though, just getting out of the damn house every day and doing my hair and putting on makeup and little things like that will be a huge boost.

  • I don't do my hair or makeup now. Am I working wrong? Undecided

  • I think it is good to get out of the house and do that stuff as well. Were you just not going out much while you weren;t working. I can imagine that would be deeply depressing.
  • Mod, I have a feeling you not doing your hair or make up and going out and public and what I look like now are drastically different. :) I just feel better/more ready to take on the world when I'm dressed nicely and my hair is fixed and I have some mascara on.

  • Yeah, I would go out on Fridays because I skip the line/cover and get free drinks at one bar, and I would go in to the city once a week or so to meet a friend for coffee or lunch and run errands, but for the most part I'd be home alone all day. It really does a number on you! I've recently signed up for some volunteer opportunities with different organizations to fill the time so I have some evening orientations coming up but hopefully I won't have to give up any of those things now that I'm working.

  • congrats on the job, Moo! I think doing baskets for the holidays would be fun and creative work.

I agree that you'll feel good getting out of bed and doing your face/hair and go be productive.  and that you weren't insinuating that anyone not doing so was "working wrong".

  • Get it.

Seems Boston has a lot more vaccine than NYC.  I got the seasonal and the pneumonia vaccines on Tuesday but no swine available yet.  I'm searching pharmacy sites that may have it some day this week
  • I got it and I had a sore arm and the next day I had a  fever and a headache. But, I am not sure if it was from the shot or not. It only lasted a day. The baby had half a dose, and was perfect afterwards.
  • Dude, moo.  You did not get the flu.  The flu vaccine works by causing an immune response, and can manifest itself with sniffles and coughing and sometimes a low grade fever.  That's why it was milder and more controlled.

I was unemployed for 9 MONTHS total this year.  it's awful...  there's only so many ways to entertain yourself for free, and i'm sure not going out for coffee during the day or to bars at night (on a regular basis, at least)  if i'm collecting unemployment.  i didn't even want to waste gas money to drive around town if i didn't have to. i rode my bike a lot more, started running every day, flew kites, went over to my parents, etc...  but yeah, it generally is really depressing and you get sucked into this "groudhog day"  of job hunting and rejection and it's awful.  i feel ya, moo.   congrats on the job.

aaaaand i have no data about viruses or the flu shot.

  • Congrats on the job(s) Moo!

I think we are going to get the shot next week. If it was just us we wouldn't but the best way to protect Ben is for me to get it.
