Flower Budget

My wedding isn't until next May, but I wanted to start and get an idea about flower pricesin our area. I have read various recommendations from different florist as well Giant Eagles from this website and from people. I know flower prices all depend on what type of flowers you want and how much you plan to use. I am trying to get an estimate of how much I should try and budget for flowers. I plan on doing hydrangeas for my bridesmaid(7), 2 coursages, and flowers on the tables. I set a budget of 1000 but I am not sure that is enough. I thought about DIY but I am a planner, but my parents house doesn't have a basement or places to put flowers. Plus I dont wanna deal with stress. ANy advice would be great :) Happy Sunday

Re: Flower Budget

  • We got married in June so I can give you an idea what what we got and spent I had 4 bridesmaids and their bouquets had gerbera daisies and Pom poms. My bouquet had stargazers, Pom poms, and gerbera daisies. We got 5 bouts and each one had a Pom Pom and two alstroemerias. Then we had 10 table centerpieces. Each centerpiece had 6 green hydrangeas inside of vases from the florist. We paid $1400 all together. This also included delivery and set up. Our hydrangeas were more expensive then we thought they would be. The green color and the fact that there were floods before our wedding raised the price.

  • I'm getting 4 bridesmaid bouquets (hydrangea/freesia/rose), 1 bridal bouquet (lav rose/freesia/lisianthus), 10 centerpieces (hydrangea/freesia/rose), cake flowers, card table flowers, and 2 altarpieces (hydrangea) for $640.  Another florist quoted me $890 for that, and I think that is closer to a normal price for those flowers
  • GE does not do wedding floral anymore. Mine is very similar to md's, except we are getting bulk flowers instead of centerpieces and no cake flowers.

  • Thanks everyone.

Sad to hear GE is no longer doing flowers. Panther- do you know if that is all GE of just certain ones?

How far un advance did you talk with a florist and try to get an estimate? I was thinking about this May/June but know that flower prices all depend on weather. Any certain recommendations for flowers near monroville?

    We're Married!! And I couldn't be happier!
  • It's all GEs. You could try a Shop n Save though. I don't know if they still do bridal floral.

  • So we're getting 1 bridal bouquet, 5 corsages, 4 boutonnieres, 16 centerpieces, and two table arrangements. Bridal bouquet has peonies otherwise flowers are pretty simple (read less expensive) spring arrangements. $485 for everything.

  • Hi Pittpoint. KS Kennedy on Western Ave on the Northside (right by Heinz Field). He's wonderful to work with and we've used him for various events and gifts in the past since he's in our neighborhood!

I went with Sam's club online.  Best decision ever!  I did order $135 worth of picasso calla lillies (white on the outside, deep purple centers) from a specialty site, which made up my bridal bouquet and my 7 boutenneieres.  But from Sam's, I ordered enough orchids, hydrangea, delphinium, and white roses to make 6 bm bouquets, four corsages, flowergirls' baskets, altar flowers, and 27 tables' centerpieces (note: all vases and votives from the Dollar Tree).  My bridesmaids put everything together with stuff from Michael's - ribbons, floral tape, etc.

The total damage for flowers: less than $600.  Add in the vases & candles for the centerpieces and we're hovering under $700.

Power - and savings - to the DIY brides!!

  • Wow your flowers were beautiful, Kayelle.  Gives me hope that you can still accomplish amazing things on a budget. :-)
