I'm redhead and freckles...and Irish if that helps to say. Anyways, I hate tanning. Ive tanned maybe 3months total of my whole life. My fiance picks on me cause I'm white as a ghost so for our wedding I said I would tan. I've been putting it off sooo much! Anyways today I went to the tanning salon first time in like 3 years and talked to the girl there. She gave me some trial lotion and OMG! It burnt like crazy. Anyways, now I'm burnt and I mean burnt! hopefully I can start seeing a tanning results SOON seeing as how my wedding is 23 days away! Is anyone else going through this?

    Ouch! I'm sorry. Try going to a spray tan place or finding a place that does airbrush tans.

    Have you considered a spray tan? Some look really natural. I don't see you getting very tan in 23 days. I'm not a "red-head with freckles" but I have some red in my hair and fair skin. It takes me a month, month and a half to get a good tan.

    I'd deffinately look into a spray tan if I was you. Just remember you get what pay for. Look into reviews and ask to see pictures of past clients with your skin tones.

    Hell no, I haven't been through this because I embrace the pale.  :)  Tell your FI to STFU and I hope he feels bad that you are going through so much pain to try to make him happy.

    Sorry, but I would never set foot in a tanning bed nor would I ever recommend it.  I would suggest you look into alternatives as the PP have suggested, especially after having such a bad experience.

    After today Im really considering just getting a spray tan because its been like 5 hours and I'm still burning...it hurts to sit down haha! I've had a spray tan done before and I didn't like the results but I'm seriously considering going this route seeing as how the girl showed me pictures of past clients and they looked WONDERFUL!

    I agree with PPs about getting a spray tan.

    There's no reason to put your skin through that much damage, especially when spray tans have come such a long way.

    i would totally reccoment an airbrush tan, i would go with a person airbrushing, a specialized airbrush tanner knows where to spray more or less bronze and keep you looking natural, remember to use a ton of scrub before and use a ton of lotion after to keep it even and natural looking. The best results i have is when i will be sprayed 3 seperate times in the length of a week to build up an even glow

    use aloe or oat butter on your burn and remember to keep using lotion even after you think your done peeling it will keep your skin super smooth for the wedding as well :)

    If you are going with a spray tan, find out if it will "rub off" onto your wedding gown.  I have heard of this happening! 

    I have Irish blood in me also, whereas my FI as well as my sons have Native American in them - they all tan golden brown at the drop of a hat!  I understand the frustration, but I would say embrace your beauty - fair skin and all! 

    I may opt for a spray tan simply because when I am out in sun (even with sunscreen) I tan a little bit, and I have white streaks from the bathing suit straps, and I would like to look even.

    Sounds like they gave you a "tingle" lotion if even the lotion was burning you. I worked for a tanning salon for a very long time and my fiances mom owns many salons in middle TN. I can not believe someone would suggest a tingle lotion for you (by your description). If you want to continue tanning to get some color you should go often but only tan for VERY short amounts of time (i'm talking starting with like 4 min in a 15 minute bed) And slowly build your color slowly. I agree that spray tans have come such a far way but do it a couple days in advance. And I recommend airbrush tans where someone will go into a private room and spray you! You get great results!

    I did a trial airbursh tan this week just to see how I liked it, as I am in a similar situation as you, and I would never rec it to anyone! It looked okay for the first day, but then it got patchy- especially on my feet and hands. Yuck! To make matters worse, it did rub off on a white dress I wore 3 days later... to my bridal shower! I had brown marks all over my dress near by underarms! I would hate for that to happen to anyone's dress!

    And just for the record, it was from a reputable salon, done by a person, not a machine. Since I am so fair-skinned, she used the lightest formula possible... still did not look good, and in my opinion... a little too dark to look natural on me.

    I'm a red-head with freckles too and I just tried the machine spray tan. My wedding is in 33 days, so I wanted to do a few trials first.

    It takes me forever to get a tan in the beds or outside and I normally burn first, so this options was VERY appealing. However, I too, was scared of an orange color.

    I think the tan turned out great! I had a couple places that didn't get tanned because I wasn't in the right position, so definitely do a few trial runs to get it right. I tanned last Wednesday (five days ago) and I can still see the tan!

    Spray tan has come a long way and everyone is different. So, give it a try and if you don't like it, it will fade in time for your wedding.
