When to send Save the Dates?!?

Is one year too early?  A lot of guests will be traveling!

    I plan on sending mine about 10-12 months ahead, as most of the guests will be traveling also and I know a lot of family needs to save $ and get vacation time.

    Typically the standard is 6-8 months in advance. But if you have a lot of OOT guests it couldn't hurt to send them earlier.

    I think a year is okay, but definitely no more than that. I have about 50% (or more) oot guests, and I'm sending them next month for my October wedding - so about 8 months in advance. Which I think is long enough to look for plane tickets and book a hotel room (I already have a hotel block).

    I have guests coming from out of the country! I'm letting them know things as soon as I know them. If you think that some of your guests really need a lot of advance notice to deal with things like off time/saving money/etc then you should definitely get them out early!

    Also remember that STD = invitation, so once they go out, the recipients can't be cut from your guest list.  So the list needs to be set in stone before you mail.

    Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
