In-Suite Brides - To DJ or not to DJ, that is the question...?

After Molly's reviews, now I'm debating on having our ceremony DJ also do the music for the reception instead of the IPOD.

Anyone else thinking they may want to have one too now?  If so, are you going to have dancing in the suite then, do a first dance etc?

If not, why don't you want one?  Just think the IPOD will suffice?

We're having our reception in the vista suite, I like the idea of a DJ but realistically I think for us it'd be a waste of money and kind of uncomfortable cause neither me or FI are much into dancing and really most of our friends and family aren't either so it seems like we'd have someone playing music while no one dances. I'm just going to do the iPod thing and have Travis Allen come then while he sings "can't help falling in love with you" me and hubby will have our first dance. As of now this is the plan :)

We are not doing an insuite...but i still wanted to share IMHO anyway : )

When we were at Aria we were just going to do IPOD dock...i had started doing playlists and such but was running into....logistical problems. Whose going to change the songs from cocktail to first dance...whose going to annouce the bridal party and FI & I...what if it isnt loud enough...what if I run out of new music and then have to go back and start replaying the first songs. Not that any of that is a big deal...but once we went over to Trump and decided to go with All Night Long as our DJ, I felt so much better and was much more excited about everything being taken care of. And now looking back, my playlists were pretty lame...(Michael Bolton...really Jenny...what was I thinking!!). Id rather leave it up to the professionals!

If its in your budget...I'd go for it.

We just ran the music off a laptop, and it was fine.  We had no intention of dancing, though, so a DJ would have just been kind of silly.
This is a neglected planning bio.
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284

I have talked myself inot and out of a DJ multiple times.  As of today we have 25 guests and I'm starting to wonder if a DJ is worth it.  It will take a lot of stress off of me, but is it overkill with so few guests.  We have a final call with a DJ tomorrow and then we'll make a decision.

I did not do in-suite but I also say DJ. If you can afford it, go for it. It makes the party run SOOO much smoother, and really gives structure to the whole event.

Imagine, you get in to your suite, everyone eats, drinks.... then what? When do you cut the cake, when do you do your first dance? Bouquet toss? Grand entrance? I just felt it might be weird asking one of our guests to be in charge of announcing these things, so we went with a DJ.

I really felt it was the best decision we made. :)

Thanks for the responses ladies, I think we are going to see how MWKOBY's wedding goes which is next weekend, she's the first bride having the reception in our suite that I know of, so going to see what she thought of the Ipod and the sound system with that and go from there.
