Ceremony Songs/Hymns

Hi all.  I would like to have a couples songs/hymns during my ceremony.  There are so many beautiful songs/hymns out there and I do not know what to choose.

If you will be having your guests sing at your ceremony, what songs/hymns did you select?

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

My SIL had guests sing "Praise God from Whom All Blessings Flow" which at her church is how they traditionally end a church service, so it made sense to use it at the end of the ceremony.

We're having a vocal soloist sing The Lord's Prayer, but I've also attended a wedding where the guests were asked to sing it (and it was directed by the pastor or minister of music).

July 16, Our Wedding Day, is also International Juggling Day!

We didn't have one but my younger sister had "Great is Thy Faithfulness" and I loved that she did that.  It is really a song about what God has done for us rather than a couples type song, but it really expresses that God has been faithful and when you are at the altar marrying the love of your life, it is definitely something that you are feeling thankful to God for.

We had Joyful, Joyful We Adore Thee as our recessional song (without words) but that is a good upbeat hymn.

What are some of your favorite hymns?

I just viewed a youtube.com clip of Matt Maher singing "Set me as  a Seal."  It was so beautiful and I have decided to have this sung during my ceremony.

We are thinking of having the guests sing our favorite hymns with us - mine is Great is Thy Faithfulness, FI keeps changing his mind about his favorite.  We would like to have a soloist sing The Lord's Prayer right after the processional as well, not sure if we will have anything else (I really like music, can you tell?)

We're having someone sing "O Perfect Love" while we light the unity candle. My grandparents had it in their wedding so that makes it special to us. (well, me, but he's good with it!)

We had everyone sing The Doxology (Praise God from Whom all blessings flow...) at the beginning of the ceremony.  We had "Love Never Fails" played while we braided the Cord of Three Strands and "When I Say I Do" while we signed the Marriage Covenant.

Here are those and the other songs we considered:

<div>YES, I love these! <3 We had two congregational hymns at our wedding, Great is Thy Faithfulness and Joyful Joyful, We Adore Thee.</div>

We also sang "Joyful Joyful We Adore Thee".

We attended a wedding two weekends later where they used "Great is Thy Thankfulness" and "In Christ Alone".

Thank you all for your suggestions.  We are having a family friend sing Love Never Fails by Brandon Heath.  I am thinking of  having this friend also sing Set Me As a Seal too.

I am still deciding between How Great Thou Art and Amazing Grace.

I just saw Brandon Heath in Ocean Grove NJ! He's such a cutie. More important, love the message of his music (and the music itself)

Here's a really cool version of "How Great Thou Art"

HI there! I'm also asking the guests to join us in singing How Great Thou Art and Amazing Grace... I've heard from a couple people that I should not include all the verses of Amazing Grace although I'm struggling to cut any of the wonderful verses. Any thoughts on this? Is singing two hymns too much?

I don't want to make people uncomfortable and majority of my guests are not church-goers. That said, I would love to sing to the Lord at my wedding! Thank you for any advice!

I don't see a problem with all of the verses.  We sing all the verses in church, so why cut it short for a wedding?

Friends of ours had a 10 minute worship set at their wedding.  We had already planned ours and didn't have room to add one, but that's the one thing I would change in ours now.

No, two hymns isn't too much.  If you have a lot of people who don't attend church, I'd recommend songs with familiar tunes, so I think Amazing Grace is a good choice.
