I totally agree with your hubs. I can understand not wanting to do that, but in this economy you can't be expected to keep doing what is essentially volunteer work. Especially if you don't know if you ever will get paid for it. Here's hoping that the universe is nice to you, and things work out for the better -and soon.

in the past 2 years ive spent 9 months at a job before quitting because my hours were cut, where I went to another job where I worked for 6 months before getting laid off, then was unemployed for 5 months until I got this job that lasted for 4 months. That wont look good.

I don't know if this is an option, but is there a way to inform potential future employers about the job situation? I know the applications for everywhere I've worked had "Company, position, reason for leaving" If I saw someone who was laid off, company shut down, etc I would think "Omg you poor soul" and give them an interview.
