March 2012 Weddings

BM Vent..:((

Oh Lord, why are we all so self-concious about the number size we wear!??

One of my BM finally picked up her dress and tried it on last night...she can't even zip it.  Size 12.   She was measured back in August at this size and now she is def a 14 possibly at 16.   My other BM who is losing weight and has been, has a 14 and is willing to try the 12 and switch dresses.  The problem is BM #1 won't do it!!  She is adamant about losing weight and fitting in the 12! My issue is this is all going to happen in 6 weeks?  You let yourself gain all that weight over 6 months and now you think it's going to come off in 6 weeks?  And to top it all off, she is a yo-yo dieter and her eating habits are horrible.  She is the type to either starve herself, take diet pills or only eat once a day (and of course its fatty junk foods)  Her actual words to me were (about the diet pills, cause I was worried about her taking them):

the pills will work ill just drink water all day n eat better or not at all - ive done it b4

Dear god, I am so worried about her!  I don't want her taking pills to be skinny!  It's not healthy and she will not budge or listen to me.  I knew it was too good to be true to be having such smooth wedding planning!  I am trying my damnedest to convince her to try the 14....fingers crossed

  • Yuck... definitely not something you want to be worrying about.  I say give her two weeks and find out if she's lost any weight.  At that point it's about doing the math for her and insisting that she has to make the decision so that your friend can know whether or not she's going to need alterations done on her dress!  GL!!

  • Oh my gosh! I can only imagine the added stress!
    I'm so sorry!!
I agree, give her like two weeks, see if she has lost weight.
    Best of luck!!

Truer words have never been spoken!  My MOH put off ordering her dress until the very last possible day, because she swore she was going to go down a size.  I kept telling her that she looks great and can always get it taken in.  She finally gave in and ordered the size she originally tried on (and looks fantastic!)  I'm sorry that it's still an issue for yours!

Thanks for the advice ladies.  This is so horrible. She will absolutely not try another dress and insists on crash dieting.  I really do not know what to do at this point!  I cannot force her to do anything so I am just going to pray that it works out and that the dress fits. The thing that worries me most is her health, not the darn dress!

  • WOW! I hope she comes to her senses. There's a dress...right there...DUH!
  • Could you just bring her the 14 and make her try it on?  If it was right there in front of her, maybe she would be willing to try it on?
  • OMG that is terrible.... I have no advice :(

  • Wow, that is awful. I understand the desire to lose lbs fast, but that's definitely not the way of going about it. She could just massively cut cals and eat nothing but chicken and veggies. No sugars, minimum carbs, no soda. She'd still be getting the food and protein and she'd lose a ton of weight. I'm not going to lie, I'll probably do this the last couple of weeks. Not the healthiest route ever, but it's better than not eating and stuffing my face with diet pills.

    Good luck!
