Beach Sand

For our escort cards we are doing sand dollars with place cards attached to them and putting them in a box filled with sand.  Does anyone know where I can buy white florida type beach sand for the sand box?

    Michaels sells different colored sand, and I know i've seen small bags of the white sand. But they're pretty small bags.

    We got play sand at Benny's in Dennis that was pretty nice.

    We ended up going with aquarium sand from Petsmart they have a lot of differnt colors

    Lowes or Home Depot - its not as expensive for a larger amount

    Is there some reason that you wouldn't want to use free sand from the beach? (forgive me if I sound snarky, I'm just genuinely curious)

    I want that fine light colored beach sand - actual cape sand is a little more brown and corse. Plus I don't want to have to sift it myself haha. I did try lowes and they had "play sand" but it was basically sand box sand.

    you can buy "white sand" at home depot or lowes...just ask, we got a 50lb bag for really cheap and used it in the favors for my friends weeding. "message in a bottle" and it was a prayer/poem on a scroll" attached to the cork, we added some seashells to the bottles with the sand...the seashellls were very small and perfect with the sand

    I got my sand from a beach on Cape Cod.  If you go up by the drifts, you can get light sand.  It's the softest sand on the beach because it is the lighter sand that got swept up by the wind  :) It was very easy for my FI and I to fill a few gallon bags to use for our centerpieces.  Just an idea in case you don't find what you're looking for at the store!

    The only concern with real beach sand is that it may contain sand fleas or if not properly dried out can start to smell after a while. I got my sand for my fishbowl type centerpieces at Home Depot and it was super cheap for a lot.
