Grooms/Groomsman Shoe Idea!

Sooo I am not really a fan of mens black dress shoes. I find them to be soooo boring. And I want my wedding to be far from boring and "Traditional". Our wedding colors are Yellow and Grey (contemplating a third color), All our guys will be wearing Grey tuxedos opposed to black. and i was contemplating them wearing Yellow Chuck Taylors along with them. What do you guys think? Opinions? Feedback???

  • I think it sounds cute.

  • I think it sounds cute, but I'm not sure how easy yellow would be to find. You might end up having to buy them for the guys if you want to go this route. H loves Converse, but I don't think he would buy a pair in yellow that he's going to wear only once.

If you go this route you could change the shoestrings with grey colored ones. I changed H's shoestrings to red, and it really popped.

Here's a picture of my groomsmen and H's feet.

Another option would be just to have them wear black chucks with yellow shoestrings, idk how that would work with grey suits though. I could see grey chucks with yellow shoestrings looking cute and maybe the guys would be less opposed to them, because grey is a color they can wear again.

  • i love the idea of wearing chucks...however my caution would be that if you are looking for something original....i have seen them at more weddings lately then i have seen dressshoes!!! Not very original anymore..

  • I agree with PP they aren't  very original anymore, but they are a great option. I think it would be awesome if you did the yellow shoe laces. I know my FI has really bad feet from playing hockey for years so we did the DC Villian loafers instead of dress shoes, just another option to look into.

  • My friend got customized Chucks for his wedding. Though not practical for the groomsmen to buy (his GM wore dress shoes) He got the customized chucks that had their wedding date on them

  • Like PP said, this is becoming very common and popular these days.  Still a great idea, though and if you like it I say go for it.

I believe in a lot of things. I believe in fresh tennis balls, the healing power of bunnies, and that the novels of Susan Sontag are something I'll never read. In fact, I don't even know who Susan Sontag is. What is she... like... a painter? I believe in Crystal Lite because I believe in ME. I believe in the movies of Val Kilmer, though these days it ain't so easy. I believe in Darren Sproles, the word "dabble", the first season of "Silk Stockings", and big, warm, moist, gooey chocolate chip cookies that melt in your mouth and all over your face.

  • My fiance is wearing brown and navy oxfords. They go with his attire. Do what you want, it's your wedding
  • its your wedding. do yellow. it will be great in photos. OR do grey with the yellow laces and yellow socks to match.
  • My fiance is insistant on wearing his red chucks with his black suit and red tie - I was going to go the route of wearing a red wedding dress, but fell in love with an over-the-top ivory one. Ill be wearing high heels during the ceremony, but im planning on changing into a shorter, simpler dress and putting on my own chucks.

I say yes to the yellow chucks!
