We jumped in the car, drove out to CO, and got married! No Vegas wedding, but I'm glad because Bill told me later that he really didn't want to get married there, so that wouldn't have been fun.
We just took 4 of our closest friends out to dinner and surprised them with the blank marriage certificate. Bill said the nicest little speech that I didn't know he was going to say about how these guys have known us longer and more intimately as a couple than anyone else and how they never took sides in our fights and always encouraged us to push through difficult times together.. it was very sweet.. and that since they were there at the beginning, it only fit that we would celebrate with these men whom we love so much. So a few of them started crying and we signed the certificate just at an old local restaurant we loved in our town.
We didn't need witnesses, but two of them signed and I was overwhelmed with how touched they were and how much it meant to Bill. I could not be happier with the way it turned out... no matter how much I wanted to have a traditional wedding.
It is what it is, and I'm married to an incredible man!
Anyway, thanks for all your input when I was trying to figure out what to do and whining about the situation

High-five!
