Giving the ring back....

*pout* I have to bring my ring the the jewler to get teh claws replated. I want it to look perfect and sparkly for the wedding. However, I am just not able to bring myself to part with it for two weeks.

FI being the awesome man that he is, bought me a replacement (a-la-cheap), so that I could still have a ring from him to wear.

... but I don't wanna!!!
I keep psyching myself up saying if I bring it today I will get it back sooner than if I take it tomorrow..... still can't do it.

Anyone else having separating anxiety?

Re: Giving the ring back....

  • Lol I always feel the same way, When we upgraded my diamond in my e ring for our 6th anniversary we put the old diamond in a plain ring setting so I wear that now when mine goes in. Hope you get it back ASAP
  • I definitely did! I took both rings in and they gave me an ETA of two weeks to clean and polish the band and resize the engagement ring. I was ready to be a pouty, ringless monster for 14 days... Then they called me 5 days later to say both rings were in! You should take it in and hope for the same luck! I'm sure it depends on what you're getting done, but lets hope for the best!

  • We're getting FI's wedding band and my engagement ring engraved. I've been avoiding it for the exact same reason! My finger will be lonely!!!

  • at last he gave you a replacement:)
i had seperation anxiety right off the bat....my ring was too big so we brought it back to be resized literally the day after he proposed.  i was ringless for a few days. but at least i had taken a lot of pics of it so i could still see it:)
  • I've been thinking about having it redipped before the wedding. The last time I had to take it in was when they were designing my wedding band. Iwas ringless for 6 weeks. It was terrible. I dont want to be seperated for that long haha.

  • I need to send mine to be re dipped and I don't want to let it go either!

  • what is "redipped"?
  • I would be so upset about giving my ring away!  I am lucky and anything that has been done to my ring has only taken a couple hours at most!  I don't know why that is, but when it was sized I only sent it away for 2-4 hours.  My ring is custom and all the work on it has been done by the man that made it, which makes me really happy!
  • I put on my big girl pants and took her down to the ring store :( She is now gone. On the small positive side since my ring is a set I also had to take in the band. Before I have always taken the band in the box and put it in my purse, but because I was feeling sappy, I rocked my wedding band while I ran around looking for center pieces.

  • Christina- Redipped is the term for white gold rings getting "replated". White gold is not a naturally occuring metal. It is yellow gold that has been changed to silver through a rhodium plating. It's actually a clear liquid, I believe, but they have little charges and stuff in the liquid, from what I've seen a jeweler do. Over time, white gold starts to turn back yellow and get dull, so it has to be redipped or replated every so often. The rate at which it changes depends completely on the person wearing it because their body chemistry is part of what changes it, as well as any lotions, soaps, oils, etc that the ring is exposed to.

I don't have too much anxiety because I have another ring I can wear. Plus, I take my ring to a local jeweler and to have it replated it only takes 2 days. It would be same day, but my ring has yellow gold accents so they have to tape those off so they don't turn white!

  • I havent had to been separated with mine yet but 2 weeks before the wedding we need to bring mine there to get soddered with my wedding bands. I'll be ringless for the 2 weeks before the wedding. I think I might buy something super cheap to wear though while it's gone.... feels too weird not to have something on my ring finger :)
