Dress and shoes all in one day!

So I was able to pick up my dress today!!!!!!!!  It is so pretty on me!  I LOVE IT...or I will when I have the correct undergarments on under it.  I will also have a dark purple sash.  It is at home, and it is so pretty!!!

I also went shoe shopping today...I have wide feet and have been living in fake crocs for years, I can't wear much else anymore.  So, I discovered that there was a croc store in my town, and sicne I was by it to pic up the dress, I also stopped by the croc store and picked up my wedding day shoes!!!!!!
It is a summer wedding, and we will be having a foot washing ceremony so I have to take my shoes off in the middle of it...so I have to wear easy on easy off shoes.  All of my girls have been instructed to wear white sandles or flip flops, so it all fits together.
anyway, here are the shoes to go with the dress:

Oh, and the dress is white.

Thanks....It is amazing I look happy, I was crying...Every time I have put that dress on, my consultant cried, and I have also.  I even got a pic with her, and she was telling everyone how every time she saw me in it, it made her cry.  I just cannot believe it is home and it is mine!!!!
  • That's so great! I ordered my dress last July and didn't see it until a few weeks ago. Once I put it on I didn't want to take it off. It's still in storage at the store right now and I won't actually take it home until a couple weeks before the wedding but I am constantly looking at photos of it.

yeah, Davids Bridal does not tend to like to keep them...if it is in the store more than one month they donate it.  You are repsonsible for transporting it to any alterations appts...I chose the dress in Feb, and got it today...I have to admit I like that turn around time though!  I hear of choosing your dress a year in advance ect. and I could never do it!  I am having a custom corset made and that spare tire should smoothen out a little, and I might need some alterations around the bust, but I am so stinking excited!  We are having an after wedding party so we can celebrate with more people, and since it is a little less formal, I totally plan on getting more uses out of it!  YAY!
  • Yay! It definitely looks like a dress you can wear all day and then dance the night away. I was originally looking at a tea length dress as well but then I fell in love with this one.

That dress is beautiful also!  It looks much better on your body than it would on mine!  I originally fell in love with a long full gown that had a little lace on it, but lace was very important to me.  I am having a summer wedding and I saw this one in DB's new collection and I atleast had to try it on.  I did and it was perfect for me.  Having a vintage picnic themed reception, and trying to play up the summer of it all the best I can.
  • Thanks! Your dress is absolutely perfect for a summer, picnic themed reception. Your FI is going to love it!

the funny thing is without knowing it, I chose a dress that was very similar to my grandmother's dress from 1958.  tea length, covered in lace, I saw both of them and wow!  it is amazing how similar they are!
  • That's so cool. Will she be there to see you in your lovely dress?

no, she died when I was in 6th grade.  And my grandfather (who was also at that wedding and who is paying for this one) missed it by 6 months, because he passed away in late January.  But when she died I inharited the wedding ring set he got her, and he was able to see me re-use the daimond in my ring before he died.  And he met my Fiance and really liked him.
  • Oh, I'm sorry, that's too bad. Perhaps you could display a photo of them somewhere at your reception. It's nice that you get to use her rings. The pearls that I am wearing in my photo are my nanna's and it means a lot to me that I wear them. She is still alive and hoping to make it to the wedding, but she has cancer and isn't sure if she will be up to it. I can only hope!
