Doing laundry...

Do you use dryer sheets? FI and I had a huuuge discussion about dryer sheets. I use them, I love the smell of them. FI doesn't use them. He says they ruin fabric. Now, when I'm at his house, I don't use them (since he doesn't have any), but when I take everything out of the dryer, it is all clung to each other with static. He does a load of laundry, and everything comes out normal.

If you don't use dryer sheets, what is the magic touch to get rid of static?

    I'm with you LOVE dryer sheets. I've heard a tennis ball will help with static? idk though

    I use dryer sheets.  You're not supposed to use them with towels because it gets a waxy substance on them that ruins their absorbency.

    I use dryer sheets. I love the smell and I can't stand static cling... I don't know how you'd prevent that without them...

    I don't like dryer sheets. I'm with your FI - they wreck fabrics by leaving greasy marks. No thanks. Instead, I use fabric softener in the washing machine, so my clothes still come out smelling fantastic. I don't have a static problem at all either.

    I don't use dyer sheets but everything is still normal when I take it out of the dyer. I don't do anything special...

    Slightly off topic but did you know you if you put a dryer sheet in a pan/dish with stuff stuck on it after cooking/baking, fill with water, & leave it sit for a bit the stuff stuck to it will rinse right off!!

    I love dryer sheets but my bf hates them & won't use them ha

    I love dryer sheets.

    Random question...does liquid fabric softener ever go bad? I have a bottle from my old apartment that I never used due to the proximity of the machines I used. Now I haven't used it because the damn lululemon stuff is messing up my ability to use fabric softener.

    We use dryer sheets because they are cheaper than the liquid stuff right now - but I admit I prefer the liquid softner. And yes , you are not supposed to use fabric softner at all for towels as it basically coats them and does prevent absorbency. I usually toss in a dryer sheet with my towels though for about 2 miinutes so it gets rid of the little static there is and then remove it for the rest.

    They don't really repel mosquitos. I've had children at camp who have rubbed these sheets all over themselves, and then come down with a nasty rash. I highly do NOT recommend this!

    Oh, no dryer sheets or fabric softener with the pads from my Shark Steam mop.  That's a no-no too.

    We use fabric softener in the washing machine. I lurve the smell of it. Occasionally we throw a dryer sheet in the dryer but it's very rare. We don't seem to have any static issues, so maybe the fabric softener does the trick?

    I have been using dryer sheets with just about every load of laundry for years and everything is fine.  Towels still absorb water just the same.  No greasy marks on my clothes. 

    I think liquid fabric softener helps with the static as well.

    I should note that I use dryer sheets for other purposes. I like to stick them in cupboards and drawers to make them smell fresh and clean. And I occasionally rub them on a particularly staticy piece of clothing after I put it on.

    Tafft makes a good point though - liquid fabric softener is expensive. And the cheap liquid stuff doesn't really do anything. I do fabric soften my towels though, and they're still absorbent. Maybe I'll stop that though to save money. We do so freaking much laundry in a week, it's killer...(the joys of being the partner of a tradesman who wears 10 layers of clothes in the winter, and 5 in the mornings in the summer)

    I've never had any issues with dryer sheets and towels either, but maybe should try it without for a while to see if I've been missing out, lol.

    I also stick a dryer sheet in the bottom of the trash can to make it smell better... or in a sock drawer to keep them smelling nice.

    I had no idea there were people that DIDN'T use dryer sheets... lol

    I have used dryer sheets and fabric softener... I must be weird. I also rub dryer sheets in my hair during the winter when it is all staticy.

    Yep. I skipped them all through college and for a few years after that, just to save the money. Just started again last year.     I use Bounce unscented. Scented things sometimes make itchy/sneezy. Does Bounce count as a fabric softener? I always thought it was just to tame static.

    Buggle- I only sort laundry by whites and colors, unless it's especially messy (all of SO's clothes were covered in hot sauce during a plane ride once so I did those in a separate load.) 

    Unless it's winter, I only use the dryer for my towels socks and un-mentionables, in which case I use a dryer sheet.  Everything else gets hung out to dry, no static and amazing fresh smell! 

    Am I the only one that re-uses dryer sheets until the smell is gone?
