Overused lines, and words you just hate on here

What are you least favorite words, phrases, and advice on here? What makes you cringe when you read it?

Tacky. I cringe when I read it anymore. Not everything is tacky, and more things are rude then they are tacky.

I can't stand reading "you shouldn't even consider asking your WP until 6-9 months out." Seriously? I know that some brides end up regretting decisions, but not everyone has to wait that long.

Also, "don't even consider looking at BM dresses until at least 6 months out." I know styles change, and what not, but you can start looking before that, you just don't need to order.

People have bad ideas sometimes. Tell them they're not being polite. Suggest an alternative. Don't call them an brat unless they're actually screaming and stomping their feet.

I agree with you on both of these. Am I an evil person for aksing mine 1 year out? I mostly did it then because we were having a girls weekend in NYC and usually never get to see eachother, especially at the same time. I knew I wanted J Crew dresses so the same weekend we pulled out a laptop and started looking at dresses together online.

My college roommate got engaged the beginning of our senior year and waited FOREVER to ask people to be bridesmaids. It drove us all crazy.

This for me too. I was petrified to have any real feelings of aggravation while planning my wedding for fear of this label. If you have any other emotion other than optimism and happiness people deem you a bridezilla.

Ditto. I don't notice it too much on here, but IRL the minute you said anything that wasn't happy or agreeing with someone else, I heard the bridezilla card. It made me want to punch anyone who said it.

I actually agree with both of those statements (yet think they are overused) but somehow when you put them together they seem contradictory. Makes me laugh.

I got really irritated when I read one of H's emails the other day and he called himself OCD. He scratched his wedding band and I said no big deal they will redip it when you come home, and he said "yeah but I have OCD and keep feeling the scratch." I wanted to write back and yell at him, but decided to be the better wife and not do it.

Anything ending in zilla drives me batshit. Any post title that looks like "MOMZILLA, HELP!!1!!!" and "Already a MOHZILLA, argh!" creates an irrational urge in me to punch the OP in the neck.

I really hate that, and the reason is because I know damn well that I would be terribly disappointed if every single one of my BMs didn't do anything other than get a dress, show up and smile. I'd be thinking "WTF, it's my wedding, you're supposed to be some of my best friends/closest family members and you don't give a rat's ass about this?"

Yeah I agree on that. My BMs were all willing to help with anything, and I've always offered to help when I've been a BM. I've been asked to do things for the bride too before and didn't care. I admit to giving that advice before because yes that is technically all they have to do, but I would be upset if my good friend said no to everything I tried to include her on for my wedding.

I think if parents can, they should, help with wedding costs. It really annoys me when posters jump on a girl because her parents or her FI's parents are helping. Of course, if your parents can't help or won't or the bride is bitching that they didn't contribute, that's something different. And I agree that we shouldn't overspend on our weddings, but for some the help of our parents is really a blessing.

Any thread that starts with HELP!!!!!!!!!! or EMERGENCY!!!!!!!!! Or OMG HELP ME!!!!!!! Or any variation of with many bangs afterward.

Because nothing is ever that big of an emergency and you never need help that badly. And if it really is that big of an emergency to you, you should probably reevaluate your existence.

<div>My parents paid for my wedding and no one jumped on me, but that's probably because I didn't and wouldn't have asked them to pay for it. That was their decision and I am forever grateful for it, but I would never say that parents should be expected to do it. </div>

I used to love the word. But now on here people use it for EVERYTHING. Not inviting your sister's BF of a year because you've only met him twice isn't tacky, its rude. I don't mind the word when its used appropriately though. Wearing a miniskirt for a wedding dress because you lost 100 pounds and want to show it off is tacky. Spending $5,000 on a wedding dress and not feeding your guests is rude.

Meg, I agree that there's no reason to jump on people for the simple fact that they didn't pay for their weddings themselves, although I don't see that a lot on here. I'm sure you will therefore find it shocking to hear that we didn't pay for our wedding. But I really disagree that parents should help. I don't think there's any kind of responsibility for them to pay for anything for their adult children, and that includes a wedding.

I disagree with the first sentence. I don't think they should just because they can. However, I agree with the rest of everything you said and I don't think anyone should be judged because their parents ARE helping pay for the wedding, as long as they have a good attitude about it.

Reading that over and over had made me afraid to talk about anything about the wedding with them and then I was like these are my best friends, who else am I supposed to talk to when I'm stressed?!
