Hey, all.

I'm here. H baked me a birthday cake tonight, actually - I'm so touched. He did a great job. Chocolate cake with vanilla and chocolate icing. YUM.

I had a small piece, and baby is having his own birthday party in my belly. I don't think he'll ever come out - the food's too good on the inside.

Good evening! Not sure if the cake talk is still going on, but I have to weigh in - I thnk my fave is Betty Crocker cherry chip cake and cherry frosting...although it tastes more like sugar than cherry.

I do love carrot cake though - especially from Costco.

Girlie - your kitty is adorable. I'm a sucker for long haired cats, though DH will never allow one in the house

Oh, I'd always talk about cake Riley. I don't think I've ever had cherry chip cake. Or cherry frosting either. I don't generally like canned frosting though cause I never had it until I was about 20. My mom ALWAYS made her frosting so I'm totes frosting spoiled.

Coops - I think the cherry versions are kind of hard to find...I'd have to guess they're not great sellers! Super jealous of your mom's baking skills though - it's definitely something I have next to no talent in, which is probably why my favorite cakes are box mixes and pre-mades, haha.

I see you're a Vegas bride - that sounds so fun! It was definitely a consideration of ours.

Hi!

Yellow cake with chocolate frosting is great, though it tastes best when my dad makes it. He has some sort of secret way of mixing the batter I think.

So I used to be all "Team Red Velvet Cake," but then when we went to our cake tasting, it turns out our bakery makes an astonishingly delicious carrot cake, so that's my current cake obsession (although FI vetoed it as our wedding cake because (1) "carrot cake is kind of weird in a wedding cake" and (2) it was a $50 up-charge, and we're cheap).

And Matty, your cake was beautiful!

All cake is good. Our wedding cake was vanilla/chocolate marble cake with alternating tiers of chocolate custard with Italian cherries and cannoli filling with Italian cherries. Nom.

Riley- Yeah, I'm super pumped about Vegas. Fi used to live there, so it was his idea and I was all for it! Plus he has family there, and two of his 3 groomsmen live there, so it's nice fr them as well.

Bones- Hi! Your fish is pretty! I love Bettas, we used to have a bright red one in a big tank with some other fish and he was my fave.

Steph- Ouch on the upcharge! We're having cupcakes except for a 6" to cut, so we're having lots of crazy awesome flavors. We're also having a big family party when we get back and I'm having 4 different flavors for that, and you'd better believe red velvet and carrot are both on the list.

I'm just resentful that I'm stuck eating fruit instead of awesome carrot cake right now. Thanks, his name is Bones and he has a huge tank to himself right now- hoping to get some more fish to put in there once I start working again. He's my baby and I wouldn't trade him for the world.

And Coop, I looooooove the cupcake idea, but again, cupcake tower was an up-charge at our bakery (which the venue requires us to use as part of the contract). The bakery makes gorgeous cakes though, so I got over the "boo, no cupcakes" feeling quickly.

</div><div>That sucks! We're getting ours through a cupcake shop and they are so good. And it's going to cost us less than $100 for our cupcakes and a 6" cutting cake. One of our flavors is maple bacon! Last time we were there we bought some of those and put them in sturdy tupperware and stuck them in our checked luggage to bring home for my kids. They looked all smooshed and nasty but they were yummy!</div>

I love that the cake talk lasted for three pages. That's my kind of conversation.

I'm a cake purist. I like white, vanilla, chocolate, even lemon, but I won't do carrot cake or any kind of spice cake or anything with nuts and crap in it. I also find the very concept of red velvet irritating.
